So if someone with the book could provide or pink a description and we can get the ball rolling!

Happy to write up a summary later if nobody else does, but I enjoyed it. Seeing Kor Phaeron active in 40k was a treat. I hope his appearance is a sign that they're considering giving him a model & rules down the track.

Does F&F have huge repercussions for 40k? No. But the plot is far more realistic & measured than PA (or most of GW's other campaigns). There is no contrived duel between two special characters, the forces appearing in the book aren't vast galaxy-conquering hosts, and the story doesn't actually have an ending: the narrative ends in the thick of it giving players a chance to work out how the campaign ends.

My only real criticism is that it feels like a rules supplement with lore tacked on; an extra 10 pages of narrative would have made it feel like it was worth buying for the lore alone. Oh, and new art would have been nice.

my problem with the lore is they seem to set up the battle but don't exactly give anything remotely like a conclusion, it felt... incomplete. like this is a battlefield that will be revisted

A Mostly Renegades and Heretics blog.
GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH.

they mentioned them in vigilius too. I really do think they're going to put out a traitor guard codex in 2020 (my guess is Codex: Hereticus Millitarium)

I don't think they'll revisit it. I saw this as sort of a slightly-worse version of FW's Orpheus campaign

Is it weird that I like this approach? It feels closer to how the RPGs set things up and leaves an ending to the imagination. Providing a conclusion has only led to one side's fans gloating and the other side's complaining of being a punching bag. I hope that when we cut back to a post-Plague War time, all those involved in it just think, "Damn that was crazy. REDACT the hell out of all of it!" In my mind, nothing gets the community's gears turning quite like an open-ended battle.

I agree, GW's best writing are usually stories with open endings.

The Collector's Edition also includes an expanded background section which features brand-new narrative and as well as three short stories that were released to coincide with the Psychic Awakening:

The short stories I know about, but what about the "16 pages of extra background material"? Did anybody get the collector's edition? Curious to see if there was a "pay to see the ending" thing going on here...

I see Kor Phaeron is back in action again. Until the death of Argel Tal, I personally disliked him more than Erebus.
