Hiya folks!

So I'm hoping to start getting into Age of Sigmar over Christmas with a Tzeentch army, starting off small but building up into this 2000 point list. I'd love some input, because I find myself torn on unit choices in Sigmar much more than I do in 40k.

The only advisory I'd really give with this list is that The Changeling is definitely in there for the fun factor; I know that there may well be more effective units. The list evolved out of the idea for a compact army, and though it's no longer the be-all and end-all, it still has a bit of a bearing. I'm mostly undecided on specific spells and weapons, but I will indicate where I have made specific decisions. The list doesn't have to be ultra competitive, but I'd like to have a decent chance at being successful.

It really depends on your local meta and how strong it is. Also, for someone starting out I would say not to set a 2000 points goal because as you play you'll get a better idea of what units you like and what you want your army to do.

As for the list itself, you don't need to put blues & brims in the list since you'll be able to summon them in when the pinks die. What you will want is more characters to both cast spells and to be points you can summon from. Basic heralds of tzeentch on foot or on disc are pretty good.

Hold off on commiting to any marked slaves to darkness units as theirs rules (and potentially points) are being updated/changed with the coming battletome. That said, a 15-man unit of warriors with the new warscroll is pretty strong.

Thanks for the feedback. That's good news about the blue/brimstone horrors, means I can invest those points into another character or so. I'll also keep that in mind about Slaves to Darkness. I'm hoping to get hold of some codices soon, so I'll be a bit more clued up in a little while; at the moment I'm building things based purely on web research and battlescribe.

If it helps allay fears about a noob going into a 2000 point game...I kinda learnt not to do that the hard way in 40k. The full list is probably a year in the making. I'm thinking of getting certain units from the list to take to learning events and slowly build up over time.

UPDATE: List tweaked to incorporate NinthMusketeer's suggestions. Undecided over the Curseling or the Gaunt Summoner for their respective uses. I'm leaning slightly toward the summoner as I'm aware of the army's relatively small number, and something that has some anti-horde capability might come in handy.

Does there happen to be an ETA on the relevant battletome updates? I don't know if this affects anything, but I was just going to have them marked as specifically Tzeentch chaos warriors using the warscroll from the current DoZ tome.

I would take the Gaunt Summoner over Curseling every time as long as you are also taking the Balewind Vortex. Curseling is good, but he really shines when your opponent is also casting a lot of spells and you have no control over that. Summoner on a vortex is always great and getting a free unit of Pink Horrors off a Gate can be ace especially in Meeting Engagement formats.

I play:
40K: Daemons, Tau
AoS: Blades of Khorne, Disciples of Tzeentch
Warmachine: Convergence of Cyriss
Infinity: Haqqislam, Tohaa
Malifaux: Bayou
Star Wars Legion: Republic & Separatists
MESBG: Far Harad, Misty Mountains

I believe the Gaunt Summoner is getting a new warscroll with the StD boot (it's part of Everchosen) so that may affect its performance.

Thanks for the additional information on the casters. I've got a fairly flexible 1000 point intermediate list written up as a milestone toward the full army, though I think I'll stay at 1000 and less for a good while to learn the ropes. Essentially it's two units of pink horrors and a fairly flexible four leaders, so I'll be able to try out a few things.

I'll keep an eye out for the new Slaves codex. Until then I'll just run units that are in the Tzeentch book.
