So a couple of weeks ago I sold a large army and bought a new army.
Now I have this giant pile of lead on my painting desk.
No idea where to start.

It just lays there, mocking me.

Put most of it away.
Make a list of things you need to do.
Intersperse “fun” models with “slog” models to keep things fresh.
If you have different paint schemes within your army, mix them up as well.
Batch paint in small lots. You want to do more than one at a time to speed things up, but not so many that it’s daunting and a pain to do.
(Some things, like using an airbrush, might change the number you do at once)

The trick, I’ve found, is to keep things mixed up so you don’t get bored or burnt out. Slow but steady wins the race. Keep your goals reasonable. You might miss them, but you know you can reach them. If you set them too high, you might just give up without trying. I advocate a 1-a-week goal. Even busy people with jobs and do that, and you can get an army done in a year. At my peek, I was doing 4 minis a week, but that was when I was unemployed. Just sit down every day and put a layer down. Doesn’t take long to do, and how many does each mini take?

You need to find what helps motivate you. Everyone has different things. With a fresh army, maybe start a blog for its progress. Community encouragement can help. Read the lore. Sometimes that will help spark the fire. Or the rules. Think of all the carnage they can reap once they hit the table.

Good luck with your project.
