Subject: How to represent NPC's/miniatures/whatever with cardstock? Bases?

I am trying to get a 40k 8th edition slash RPG campaign going, and fast. It's to be set on Necromunda (think Urban Conquest meets RPG, but with all its lore). And in order to get that RPG campaign aspect going the way I want, I'm going to need to get some sort of physical representation for a bunch of 40k characters and NPC's etc.
I've been driving myself crazy for months if not years figuring out what models/conversions/etc. I can do for this, just to create a world/cast of characters via RP, fast. But it's just so hard to find arms and come up with ideas, be able to paint them etc., and keep up with everything. I need something to give me some flexibility as I even attempt to do that stuff.
After expanding my search a bit, I discovered this old thing:
https://produto.mercadolivre.com.br/MLB-945131516-pathfinder-pawns-npc-codex-box-_JM
I ofc will NOT be spending all that money on art that isn't even very Necromunda-esque. However, the idea of printing out all this stuff, and with cardstock etc. (which i think Staples can do? Here's hoping), and then using bases like those we see in this box to hold up the cardstock/art/images, is brilliant and relatively easily made for me as a GM of this madness.
So I looked a little further. Things like this exist too, in the same vain (check full size image preview): https://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/124255/Heroes-and-Monsters-of-the-Necropolis-Cardstock-CharactersTM-Swords-of-Kos-Fantasy-Campaign-Setting?src=hottest_filtered
Now this has me thinking. If I can just grab some 40k art, some REAL characters that would truly fit in the lore (such art is everywhere, and I can grab it with ease), then PRINT them out on cardstock like this...then I could have NPC's galore for my own 40k campaign. In theory, I think.
But there's one catch. The bases.
Does anyone know where I could get bases like that? That is, things that would hold up cardstock like in that first, Pathfinder link? (Feel free to throw in any other thoughts you might have for this little project of mine)
PS - If anyone has any recommendations for commission artists etc. able to create a bunch of art/terrain for a hexagonal Necromunda map, let me know! I'm starting to look.

It isn't "fluff" - it's lore. |

It's very common for role-playing games, but for tabletop wargames, normally the aesthetic and visual is 70% of the experience, so people use models. But yeah if you cruise around the internet, just use the term "standee" as that's the catch-all phrase for paper or card miniatures. You'll be good to go - I don't know what the cheapest/best source is.

Also be aware that places like Staples, Ofice Max, Kinkos/Fed-Ex won't generally print the images you want. Copyright laws etc.
You can of course ask. Or the individual you speak to might not care (or be knowledgeable about their own policies....).... But their instructions are to not do it.

Take a look around for 40k papercraft and paperhammer, there are a lot of 3D and 2d models you can use for your game.
Also, there was a 40K talisman game done not too long ago (forget the name, think it was done by FFG) and I think it had standees for the player pieces.

I draw my own character tokens. Usually, I just draw the front for NPC's, but draw from and back for personal character tokens, and then print it off on plain white paper and fold it over so I have a token with a front and a back that's 2 sheets of paper thick. Leaving a little tab at the bottom when cutting it out lets it be folded out to stand them up or tape them to a base or something, though I imagine that if you got clip-style bases from a board game or something you could just slide it in there.
It's actually pretty easy to draw with the powerpoint spline tool and get some pretty decent drawings for tokens. That's what I do for mine.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades! |

If the GM wants to screw with the heads of the players, talk with whoever has the largest collection of necrumunda or infinity models. The idea being that you want a scene of of the Stallone version of judge dredd, where anyone on the street can be a potential combatant.alternatively you could have everyone leave their stuff where you play, and use the models of whoever isn't there on a particular night as civilian models.

Does that mean that it's illegal to print some official GW stuff out and use myself? Even just for hobby purposes?
Some really interesting thoughts here btw - and yeah it is for RPG stuff so 'standees' would be great by me!

Have you thought of using a spare slotta base, and just a bit of blutac to hold the card roughly in the slot?
I think some of the John Blanche artwork, like that deck of playing cards, might be a nice, flavorsome stand-in, if ya can get them printed out.
