Holy crap, I voted for about 10 or 12 there and skipped over some that would have got a vote any other month! Well done everyone, insanely high standard this month.

My top 3 were Modock, QAR, and Feltmonkey.

Modock, clean work as always. Nothing else really to say, well done!

QAR, I love the base work and how much of a story it tells, beyond just being a great piece. Love it!

Feltmonkey, crisp work, great color work (esp with the greens). I'm also a huge Fett fan, so I'm both biased and glad that your piece really turned out great!

To those I didn't vote, as always great work just getting your entry done for the month!

So, another challenge in the books, so time to vote for my favorites. My five votes went to:
queen_annes_revenge: Yet another exceptional piece from you. Very gritty from the general tones used on the model down to the mini-diorama type base, which is perfect for DKoK models.
Chris56: I love the little diorama you've got going on here. He's being approached by Skaven from multiple directions but appears to have it all under control. Paintwork is solid too!
Arkanid: Dahyak Grehk looks great! He is probably my favorite of the Blackstone Fortress hero models. I haven't painted mine yet, so thanks for the inspiration!
Modock: Another wonderful Infinity model from you! The fact that you can make those teeny tiny little details look so good astounds me.
feltmonkey: Boba Fett is always a fan favorite among Star Wars characters, and yours looks great. This is the way.

As for my own entry, once again my photography has failed me. The gold on Celestine and her friends looks a lot better in person, although I must admit I have a hard time highlighting gold well (starting to think I got a bad pot of Liberator Gold, which is what I use to highlight Retributor Armor usually). Everyone's entry is pretty good, so as usual it's hard for me to stand out anyways. Shout out as always to Paradigm for running these shows. See you all in the December one!

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2023: 40 | Total models painted in 2024: 12 | Current main painting project: Dark Angels

Arkanid: Dahyak Grehk is one of my favourite models and you have painted him beautifully.
queen_annes_revenge: Such a gritty and grimdark commissar!!

Comments for all!

Nevelon - Nice to see you paint a character rather than a squad, although I know that goes against the way you use these challenges. You've put a bit more work into the details, and the shoulder pad is nice.

queen_annes_revenge - My favorite this month. Really atmospheric, great use of muted colours, lovely blends. Just beautiful work overall. You can almost smell the smoke and toxic gas drifting across the battlefield. How did your laser eye surgery go? Do you now have laser eyes?

Reavsie - Good bold colours, nice painting, and a cool conversion. That used to be a slaughterpriest, didn't it?

Jadenim - That's a detailed model with a lot going on. You've picked out all the details nicely.

Jamie Shred - I didn't even know there were Skyrim miniatures. You've done a really solid job here - excellent black lining to pick everything out, nicely blocked-in highlights. The bases are cool, too.

Rybrook - Decent tabletop stuff. I like the aged look you've got on the gold.

Maharg - Good clean painting with some nice details to lift them, such as the scrolls, the sword, and that blue spot on the back of the one guy.

ShadowsAndDust - Good flames, a great lava base, and vibrant greens. Good work!

Midget Gems - I'm surprised that you consider this to be a rush job, because I reckon it looks really good. I think you've captured something here. It's full of character and very nicely judged.

vejut - Nice Egyptian colours. What sort of bird is he supposed to be though? The face, as sculpted, looks a bit like a puffin.

Captain Brown - Another take on that Sister of Battle, and another nice job. The one thing that looks wrong is that chain thing she's holding in her hand (a sort of rosary, perhaps?) Just doing it black and white looks a bit stark. That's a minor criticism though.

Yorkright - I like these guys. I like the two-tone hood on the guy with the axe. I never think to break up areas of models like this.

Viterbi - A nice shade of dark green, a cool banner, and good work on the leather.

ZergSmasher - Ambitious to take on a model like this (plus her two sidekicks) in a month. You've done a very nice job on them all too, they look great!

Bellerophon - Second Eisenhorn of the month. The face is good, and I really like the green skull on the staff. I kind of feel like the paintjob lacks a bit of contrast overall, some areas look quite flat. It's a pretty neat job on a tricky model though.

Chris56 - Not sure how you do this in a month! A superb diorama. The way you've expanded out seamlessly from the original sculpted base is very clever indeed. Your blue OSL is absolutely outstanding, as is the skintone and the tattoo. The one thing I'm not so keen on is the hair, which looks a touch monotone, but overall the whole thing is stunning.

Nmatters - I like the colours, and I really like the sword. I like how you've got a glow effect on the base, too.

Arkanid - Great painting, really subtle. I like the small touch of blue on the belt pouch to break up all the brown and green.

DV8 - Nice! Great painting as always from you. I like it on my mobile screen where it looks precise and realistic, and I like it on my desktop where I can see the brushstrokes. I'm in awe of your ability to place a highlight!

Modock - Vibrant colours, gorgeous blends, and the level of sheer precision we've come to expect from a Modock model. Great stuff.

feltmonkey - I was a bit worried, as Boba is really weathered, it's part of his look. But if you weather a miniature too much they can end up looking scruffy. I was hoping I avoided that, but I think there's a fair bit of scruffiness in there! Not sure the flames are quite right, but I'm pleased with how the glow effect on the cloak came out.

TS-DarkDog - That's a cool miniature. Is that how it's sculpted, or did you convert something? I don't recognise it. Good job on it, nice ethereal colours for the psychic wolf blast thingy.

Paradigm - Really nice take on Han. The coat is great. One tip on this model - if you really thin down some blue wash and glaze it onto his jaw, it gives him that trademark Harrison Ford stubbly look.

dukeofbeer - Haha that's a great mini! Really fun and full of character. You've painted her well. I reckon without the bright red boots it would have been difficult to read the pose, so good choice there particularly.

Deadshot - A really striking space marine mini, nicely painted. The face and the fancy plating on the bolter are particularly good.

Bschwi1 - A simple little skeleton, nicely painted. Presumably he's Norwegian?

Great work everyone, and huge thanks to Para for tirelessly running these challenges. Back to work on December then. At the moment I don't know how I'm going to finish it in what is for me the busiest month of the year. I should have gone for something simple.

Thanks! The base had me stumped for a while. I wanted a world war one vibe, but didn't just want a trench scene. Then a saw a photo from the war of all these artillery destroyed trees and I had my answer. The tricky part was having the commissar still easily visible amongst the stumps without it looking unnatural. I added the snow to increase the contrast of the piece, and give it a bastogne feel.

Surgery went fine! No pain or anything, and now have perfect vision. Unfortunately no laser eyes though.

Thanks for the comments Felt and Nmatters. I do feel I could definitely have done better on that model (I won't point out the mistakes) but I'm glad you guys like it

This is how I imagine Queen Anne painting now

A fun month this month and lots of entries that are up there at the top, think it will be a close one.

Favorites where
Felt, Modock, DV8 beacuse they are really well painted
Chris56 - I'm sure the orange depth has suffered from the photo, that always happens to me with that colour
Yorkright - 2 interesting and well painted models
CB - You got more detail into the model than me well done
Jamie Shred - a nice matched pair
Queen Anne - Interesting the first photo looks like there is a very light green haze covering the battle field, very atmospheric

Feltmonkey--thanks on the colors. He's supposed to be a falcon or hawk, but I will admit, while the white gives nice contrast, it doesn't sell bird of prey well. The grey washes I was trying to use for depth not coming out in the photos (and only faintly in person) didn't help with that either.
