Subject: How do "Halved Damage" Abilities Work?

So quick question when a character or model (Such as Abbadon the Despoiler) has an ability that states"All damage to this model is halved." How does that work? Would a 2 damage weapon do 1 instead? Or would you take off half the wound that model took during any phase? If the second, that seems like an extremely powerful ability, so Im assuming it's the first, but I would like to know for sure.

Every time the model takes damage, that damage is halved. So a D2 weapon will be D1 against Abaddon, and a D1 will be D1 because you round up. So his ability is extremely effective against big guns, but does nothing to bolters.

From the Main Rulebook FAQ:
Q: If a model has an ability that halves damage suffered (rounding up) such as Marneus Calgar’s Armour of Antilochus ability, how is that resolved when I am attacked by several attacks at once? Do I halve the total of all the damage suffered, or do I halve the damage inflicted by each attack separately?
A: Halve the damage suffered by each attack separately. Remember that wounds are allocated one at a time. For example, if Marneus Calgar was wounded by four boltgun attacks (Damage characteristic 1) and each saving throw resulted in a failure, Calgar would suffer 0.5 wounds (which is rounded up to 1) four times, and would therefore lose 4 wounds.
