Hello, all. I’m looking for a source for a skirmish sized force of either convicts in prison garb or criminals in modern or near-future clothing, with options for either melee or projectile weapons. I would very much like to have miniatures in plastic, including board game plastic, restic or PVC, but resin also works. Historical minis could also work if they appear to be in a simple, disposable uniform, however I would prefer for them to scale well next to truish-scaled sci fi miniatures.

These would be for the game Urban Manhunt (a Running Man-style game) or as D-class personnel for an SCP-themed skirmish force for Gangfight/Horizon Wars Zero Dark. I’m planning to use Star Saga security guards, lab technicians and terrain, so that’s what I would prefer for them to scale well with. Also, suggestions for a miniature to represent SCP-682 are most welcome.

Also, any ideas for bits to make exploding collars?

The Walking Dead miniatures game has some figures in jumpsuits. As does Victoria Miniatures have a set of conversion pieces for Penal Troopers. I think Dreadball had a convict team. Statureque Miniatures has a set of sci fi flight crew in jumpsuits which could work. As does Crooked Dice have minions in jumpsuits. I assume that there's some useful Judgde Dredd / Shadowrun / Street Wars figures out there too.

Looking for figures in jumpsuits may be the way to go once the actual convict figures pool has been looked at. Or just painting a figure to look like they're in prison gear - i.e. a model with a vest and baggy trousers would do for a modern prisoner, or one with a shirt would fit an older style. As for the collars, maybe check Victoria mIniatures, but greenstuff may be easiest. Sculpt on a collar around the neck, add a seam at the front or back, then random knobs / panels out of bits of clay or plasticard.

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll be getting the Mantic Walking Dead and Dreadball prisoners first it looks like.

I'll see if I can sculpt a collar.

In plastic? That's gonna be rough.

Honestly, just wracking my brain here... I got nothing unless you want to go resin.

...I mean, I'm sure you can find some guys in regular clothes- button downs and slacks, or even hospital scrubs- and just paint them orange with a number.

When you want something bizarre in plastic...the first place to look is Malifaux. At a quick glance I don't see anything particularly suitable, though.

Zombicide has some survivors that you could paint up like they're in prison jumpsuits. Not very many, but you could pull it off with a few of them.

Isn’t there a batman/comic game? I don’t know what it’s actually called, but I know some people here paint minis for it.

Since you mentioned resin also works: https://victoriaminiatures.com/collections/penal-guard

There is, and they do have some convicts (like the BLACKGATE PRISONERS SET but they're resin and I'm not sure they're what the OP is looking for.

Spoiler:

I'll see if MM has those batman minis next sale. They look like they would work. The Victoria minis look a bit more heroic to me, and their prices with shipping give me pause.

Can confirm the victoria minis are scale-matched to cadian infantry.
Also, they're most certainly not plastic lol.

For Malifaux, I think the main option would be the Convict Gunslingers.

https://giveusyourmoneypleasethankyou-wyrd.com/collections/m2e/products/convict-gunslinger

The Lotus Eaters might work if you don't care about the model having weapons, or "These dudes tore their shirts off" is okay:
https://giveusyourmoneypleasethankyou-wyrd.com/collections/m2e/products/lotus-eaters-3-pack
and if you want two plastic chained up escaped prisoners, the Witchling Thralls might be good.

The big downsides for Malifaux figures for this would be:
- Wyrd's still going through the edition reboxing/reorganization, so availability may not be great.
- They're single pose, multiple part figures. They look great, but they're not much for "options".
It'd be a good range if you were looking for armed civilians, but not so great for (armed) prisoners in uniforms.

If you don't care about uniforms, if Steampunk Victorian is close enough for the clothing style, and you're willing to cut the ankles off of the lady figures, then their Male Multi-Part Kit and Female Multi-Part Kit that they have for Through the Breach might be worth looking at. (One of the plausible theories is that the feet and legs on the Female kit were supposed to be separate.).

I’m a big fan of Malifaux’s plastic miniatures, and while those outlaws and Victorians won’t necessarily work for this project, I want to get them for other purposes.

I thought Konflict 47 was all metal? I’m going to have to pass on them. ...Did Dust ever make any similar units?

Definitely the batman baddies. They are convicts, so they're perfect. Not sure why everyone's discounting resin when the op clearly says resin is OK.

For what it's worth I just did some penal squads from Flagellents and from Catachans.

Flagellents come with rags, collars and chains and if you have modern/sci-fi weapons already they're good to go. They're wearing robes rather than jumpsuits but for a fictional prison system maybe that's just how they roll? The skulls, books and comets are all optional bits.

Catachans are dressed in a mix of cargo pants, t shirts and vests and tend to wear bandanas so they can easily be some kind of chain gang or work gang. Not quite as good as Flagellents but more modern.

PS another vote for Victoria miniatures, they literally are science fiction armed prisoners and the quality is top noch. And I love supporting a fan/garage company.
