Hey folks Im running a galaxy 9. I have been able to post on this site in the past, but my text box now completely covers up the "Submit" and "Preview" buttons. I used to be able to get around this problem by posting a subject and a single letter or word then going back and hitting the "Edit" button so I could then paste in the entirety of my message. Now I can't even do that. This may be a me problem, but it ONLY happens on this site. I have tried "View as Desktop" as well to no avail. Is this a Dakka Problem or a doktor_g problem? Thanks for the years of entertainment. DrG

That one's a bug. Pretty sure it's on Lego's fixit list, but the easiest workaround I've found is to rotate the screen. I normally browse with the phone sideways. Rotate the phone 90 degrees and the screen will refresh with the text box the right size, and will stay that way when you rotate it back.

I've come across the same issue. Thanks for acknowledging it as a bug so im not angry at my phone thinking its a piece of crap (it is anyway...)

Will it really? You aren't being a touch melodramatic are you?

Personally, I can't see why people go out of their way to post on mobile devices. It's awkward, imprecise and rather inconvenient. Too much zooming in and out involved to make sure you're clicking on the right thing.

TIP FOR A FIX

You can fix the issue once you have typed up your text, you click on one of the ork emojis on the left hand side. This inserts the characters for the emoji and seems to revert the text box side back to normal so you can hit submit. However once you try to paste anything or add more text, or try to remove the emoji charactersrs it happens again..

It does work for me/ Might not work for everyone.

I don't think this issue will "kill dakka". Most people here are dinosaurs and prefer to use desktops/laptops Id think. (especialy at work.. shhhhhuuuush.. don't tell our bosses!)

However Id like to see a poll of what devices people most commonly use out of curiosity.

Personally my touchscreen mobile typing is absolutely atrocious plus as mentioned the scaling is all over the place and I just prefer to use proper computers for web surfing.

Yeah I can't see myself going to the internet with a my computer, I'm always on my phone. We should fix this in a hurry, I can't be the only one

Seems like you just need to zoom in so the button isn't obscured.

i turn my phone to horizontal when this happens. you can either press submit then, or if you rotate back to vertical, the box is back to normal and you can submit.

This is basically how its been for like two-three years on my phone, and yeah, I do the "turn it sideways" workaround, though it is kinda annoying--I post most of my modeling blog entries from my Galaxy 7 edge.

Same issue here on mobile. Its happens with chrome. Firefox doesnt have this bug.

Maybe try it with a different internet browser; I’m on my apple7 using safari and it’s fine. I think the issue is likely with an update on your browser interfering with Dakka.

Have you guys tried inserting one of the emojis?

I would actually be very interested to know how much of Dakka's traffic came from mobile users. At the moment I only use it on desktop as the mobile version makes reading threads nigh impossible due to the differing text sizes and constant zooming in and out.

Were a mobile app developed that got rid of all these issues, I could see myself using the site a whole lot more. I don't post very much any more as ususally when on my laptop it means I should be doing work rather than messing around with social media. On a phone would be a different case, I'd love to get notifications for when a user I follow updates their blog or an interesting bit of news gets posted.
