Hi all, last year I made the Lord of the Rings Fellowship characters, but using 40K (mostly) models/bits ( See here ).

This yes I wanted to go bigger (number of characters wise at least) and have been making MCU characters...using 40K (mostly) models/bits.

What's that? There is a whole range of Marvel models and an entire game to play with them? Pfft, sounds complicated. Far easier to kitbash the beggars with what I have...and what I can buy at probably more cost than just getting the official IP models... I didn't say it was a GOOD idea!

In terms of a lore/narrative concept, the (not) Avengers boys and girls are an Inquisitorial warband, put together by Inquisitor (not) Doctor Strange, with appropriate back story/reasons for each. Along with them, providing the Inquisitor with that much need travel option are a Rogue Trader and his crew, thems being the (not) Guardians of the Galaxy characters.

All in all there are 20 characters that I have so far built and either painted or nearly painted. There are some current omissions due to either forgetting about them, or just not coming up with a good 40K base model to use as yet.

So let's start at the very beginning, a very good place to start.

First up, the Inquisitorial warband, led by...

Captain Corr Ardinsen

Likes a drink, and bopping demons on their heads with his hammer.


Flint Clearshot

Imperial Assassin, Flint is a crack sniper, and even though he isn't as strong or impressive as some of the other members of the warband, he can sometimes be heard muttering to himself, something about being as super as they are, whatever that means.


Nessandra Midnight

Imperial Assassin, like Flint, but more assured of her abilities. Isn't averse to using her feminine wiles to get to targets.

Mysterious Psyker, possibly human, main skill lies in telekentic powers.


Danveer Moravell

She was a Sister of Battle, but was found to have psyker abilities. Inquisitor prevented her execution in order for her to join the team, because he's such a nice guy. She can fly without the wings, because magik, but keeps them around for extra pizzazz.

He's a deadly assassin that eschews most weaponry, but can still do whatever any other assassin can...


Long Long Scotant

Slightly insane assassin. He is somewhat on the small side and has developed a bit of a complex. To that end he always travels with his miniature Rhino to stand on to make himself look GIANT!

That's all the, lets call them "Avengers" done (there are some gaps I might fill at some point if I come up with a good base/kitbash idea).

The above "Avengers" represent an Inquisitorial warband, led by Inquisitor "not Doctor Strange".
But how do they get about in the vastness of the galaxy? As is the norm, they befriend/utilise the services of a Rogue Trader of course.

Therefore, as only makes sense, we have the "not Guardians of the Galaxy" representing the Rogue Trader and his misfit crew.

Starting with their, uhm, fearless leader.

Rogue Trader Praetor Penn,
71st Duke of Neutravollas III,
3rd Baron Hoff,
5th Viscount Conn Bay,
11th Marquess of Jaxx 1-5,
1st Earl of E'ego Prime.*
But being somewhat of an outlaw, he goes by the name Duke Neutron

*The crew aren't convinced that, or any of these titles are actually real...

If I didn't generally loathe Marvel i'd probably like these more. I can still appreciate a decent conversion though, so nice!

Sod'dem

Another deadly assassin of questionable origin, possibly Aeldari in nature, but no one is brave enough to ask.

He's mad, he's angry, he will, uhm, destroy you, it's

Krax da Krusher

Originally just Krax, he defeated an entire Ork warband, first-time-soloed-it, so the greenskins named him Da Krusher.

Ill take your entire stock.

And last of the original 5.

Icarus the Ratling and his bodyguard Kroot

Icarus is the crew's weapon expert and all round tech guy, and is the only member of the team that can understand Kroot.
That is because Kroot never stops babbling in Krootish, apart from 3 words that all of them understand - The Greater Good. None of the crew have a clue what it is meant to mean, so just ignore it.

Couple of bonus characters from the films that aren't technically GotG, but are GotG-adjacent :-)

Forn-du Pop'pins

Alien of unknown origin, he has a gun, he has an arrow, he has an umbrella; he's good.



Andromeda

Once a human assassin, Andromeda has been mechanically altered by the Tech-Priests of Mars and now serves as a some-time ally of the Rogue Trader crew.

Great stuff, the umbrella is a hilarious touch.
