Hi. I'm just getting into the 40k tabletop, and I like the idea of craftworld eldar. I'd like to start with a 500 pt list. I like most of the aspect warriors aesthetically, and fluff-wise I find Craftworld Iyanden interesting, though neither of these would be mandatory. Got any ideas?

Thanks!

Hi Mercurious

Id recommend you check out the tactics thread for "tactics":
https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/782636.page

Its mostly just ramblings, but definently some good information and there is a unit breakdown there somewhere. .

In terms of a craftworld its entirely up to you ma dude.
I would say pick whatever fluff/colours you like the most. The most important thing is that you like your army. Rules often change over time.

Iyanded scheme is pretty cool IMO. One of the better ones.
They are heavily focused on wraith constructs in the fluff. Their craft world got absolutely obliterated and a lot of them died... So they very efficiently put their soul stones into constructs to bolster their defences.

Iyanden trait is sadly not particularly good currently so id recommend going for onw of the other ones. But you can still paint your dudes in iyanden colours. Nobody would mind.

Aspect warriors tend to look the same regardless of craftworlds.

I would suggest starting with a small battalion.
I think something like this would be relatively thematic and feirly practical for Ityanden.

++ Battalion Detachment +5CP (Aeldari - Craftworlds) [33 PL, 499pts] ++

+ No Force Org Slot +

Craftworld Attribute: Iyanden: Stoic Endurance

+ HQ [8 PL, 125pts] +

Prince Yriel [5 PL, 70pts]

Spiritseer [3 PL, 55pts]: 0. Smite, 4. Protect/Jinx, Shuriken Pistol

+ Troops [9 PL, 174pts] +

Dire Avengers [3 PL, 58pts]
. 4x Dire Avenger [44pts]: 4x Avenger Shuriken Catapult [12pts]
. Dire Avenger Exarch [14pts]: Two Avenger Shuriken Catapults [6pts]
. . Exarch Power: Shredding Fire

Dire Avengers [3 PL, 58pts]
. 4x Dire Avenger [44pts]: 4x Avenger Shuriken Catapult [12pts]
. Dire Avenger Exarch [14pts]: Two Avenger Shuriken Catapults [6pts]
. . Exarch Power: Shredding Fire

Dire Avengers [3 PL, 58pts]
. 4x Dire Avenger [44pts]: 4x Avenger Shuriken Catapult [12pts]
. Dire Avenger Exarch [14pts]: Two Avenger Shuriken Catapults [6pts]
. . Exarch Power: Shredding Fire

+ Heavy Support [16 PL, 200pts] +

Wraithlord [8 PL, 100pts]: Ghostglaive [10pts], Shuriken Cannon [10pts], Shuriken Catapult, Shuriken Catapult

Wraithlord [8 PL, 100pts]: Ghostglaive [10pts], Shuriken Cannon [10pts], Shuriken Catapult, Shuriken Catapult

++ Total: [33 PL, 499pts] ++

8 CP with battle forged.

The bonus is that all of these units are pretty decent and could be used in many lists or with different craft world.

id put the psytronome of Iyanden on the spirit seer s well however its not included in the list and also probably seer of the shifting vector warlord trait to give him a free re-roll in the psychic phase.

Enjoy the battles to come!

This list will crush at 500 points. You'll be kickin' ass.

However, anything above 1k, the WraithLords become a liability and bottom out as one of the codex's worst units, in a book full of not good, but *great* units. Dark Reapers are still arguably in the top 5 of all of 40k, and that's saying something.

Dire Avengers are good, but rangers are more needed to slice enemy characters because so much of today's 40k is about character buffage. Alaitioc rangers being usually -2 to hit, or a 1 Cmnd. Point strat that sez "Hit me on s b***ches!"

I've played Eldar since 4th ed. I suggest, Rangers, Skyrunners (farseers). Any warlock you buy, run as a Spiritseer, more wounds for the points, better psy ability (normal Smite, that is). And buffs to any elvish undead (i.e. Wraith units).

Dark Reapers. You really can't go wrong buying a Wave Serpent. Check ebay if your wallet is light. I buy some GW new, some old.

If my eldar army magically disappeared (stolen) I'd start with 10 DRs, 3x5 rangers, 2 farseers on bikes. A Wave Serpent and then buy whatever flavor as you like from there.

haha that's pretty much my army core. Except I tend to take a farseer and warlock on foot for seer council to ensure those critical powers and save points.

Wraithlords are actually decent for their points with the new custom craftworlds. 80 pts bare bones is decent. Give them a glaive, charge them towards enemies big stuff and they have to be dealt with. Make excellent distraction carnifex that will soak up a disproportionate fire power for their points. With masters of concealment, they get a 2+.

That list at 500 pts would murder...You got enough CP to heal your wraith lords D3 wounds each turn lol.

Thanks. I'll definitely try to pick up some rangers soon.
