So I was glancing at the post-maledictum map and noticed a world labelled Schindelgheist out on in Ultima Segmentum, near the dark maw. However, as an old BFG nerd I know that the planet of Schindelgheist is in the Gothic sector, and was the site of the turning point of the Gothic war.
Is this a simple mistake, a retcon? Was Schindelgheist tossed half way across the galaxy, or is it simply a coincidence? I'm guessing there are a few planets that share names, it's hardly unheard of for such things to happen.
Also, is there any fluff for this new Schindelgheist? It's not so easy to search for given the importance of the original planet.

Forge World Graia has a line about how it’s not the first Forgeworld to have that name.
Because the Video Game Space Marine was set on Graia and had a completely different geography.
So likely another planet with same name.

Given the number of towns and cities in the real world that have the share a name I can get behind the idea that there are likely more than one planet or star system with the same name too. Especially in a place like the IoM with warp travel and communication being so unreliable and the famously inefficient bureaucracy that goes with it.

When you look into the etymology of place names, you end up with a LOT that are just basic descriptives. Stuff like "two rivers", "new city" or "green hill". That's why you have so many towns that have identical or similar names. For example, you can find at least a dozen Montréal in the world, because it just means "royal mountain" in French. Monterey is exactly the same, but in Spanish. In German it's Königsberg, etc...
I don't know if "Schindelgheist" actually means anything, it looks like fake German, but there have to be a lot of planets in the Galaxy with unoriginal names like "rocky world" or "John's place" or "new Earth".

I think that Schindel is a translation of shingle, whereas geist is the word for spirit/ghost. I guess there could be some sort of system where this is an apt name. We know that the Gothic Schindelgheist was the location of Blackstone Fortress V. Maybe something to do with building upon the remnants of past civilisations? Literally putting a shingle roof upon the ghosts of the past?

There are also 2 sarums, the forge world that supplied angrons boys, and a world in the dani verse mentioned in the ravenor books. I got excited and thought he meant the former, but aparantly not.

What's the planet from Cult of the Spiral Dawn called? Redemption 47 for suchlike? A character notes that there were a lot of planets which the original colonists descided to call Redemption.
From an meta-narrative perspective, GW giving a bunch of different planets the same name is just as dumb as every other Necron character now being named Setekh.

Well, there’s a million planets. Got to be double up sooner or later.
I mean, think Alexandria.

I have seen a fair number of online maps that show a Schindelgheist in the Ultima Segmentum.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find fluff on this "non-Gothic" Schindelgheist.
I think people have been putting it on maps for awhile, but there is no internet available fluff.
There is a stub for recording such fluff on Lexicanum (if anyone has anything):

multiple planets with the same name is no suprise, as someone noted you see this with cites etc all the time. I mean just for example, ... how many cities named Victoria do you guys figure are out there? (the answer because I was curious, is 24)

It would explain why logistics is a mess.
"Send the guard to Schindelgheist"
"Ok, do you want the Schindelgheist in sector A, B, C or D?"
"...yes?"
