For someone who likes to play singleplayer all these "MMO" style games tend to be a pain because their content is often diluted compared to singleplayer focused games and (big one) you can't play them offline - which means if your net isn't up to it you can't play - and you really notice it in fast action games.
That said from reading the reviews I think this is one of those games that could be a major title if they fix it and if they fix it fast enough to make a difference. If they fix it slower it might be a slow burning game that needs a sequel to secure itself. The risk with a 1.0 (full release) that needs a LOT of fixes is that it can mean that team/company isn't up to it or lacks the budget and time - which can sometimes mean that in 12 months we are still waiting for them to fix things with an ever increasing feeling that they might not get there.
I really hope they do well and get the game running and functioning as it should. I'd love to see them adding more content with their time an boosting sales and content.
Agreed on all counts. Full disclosure: I kickstarted this back in 2014 or whenever it was. And even though they went back on some of their promises an extremely promising game came out in the end. I have played up to level 20 in online mode, which has been difficult, and encountered many bugs, but so far haven't lost my stash or anything like that.
And the online mode isn't really trying to be an MMO. It's just the mode you play if you ever think you'll party with a friend or a few friends. It increases the challenge a bit but otherwise it's the same game as in offline mode.
I really am having fun with it, through the issues, and looking at SteamDB it's doing very well for itself. Even after Steam decided to allow "unlimited" refunds because of the poor launch, the percentage who have actually refunded it is pretty low; so I think that shows people have faith in it.
