Here's a game that should appeal to us Warhammer +40K fans. Aesthetically it's a perfect fit but also the story is dripping with Inqusitorial intrigue. Considering both attempts at making ARPGs in either universe lately (Inquisitor - Martyr and Chaosbane) were turgid, soulless cashgrabs, here's a game that's not; but makes up for it in bugs and lingering issues. Maybe not one to pick up right away, but I would definitely recommend keeping an eye on it. Right now there are some pretty massive blockers to enjoying it. Stashes getting reset in online mode (losing your stuff in between log-ins) and the difficulty of getting into a server (also online mode) - I honestly wouldn't touch this game if you want to play online - but unlike Diablo 3 and Path of Exile it DOES have an offline mode, which I can't think of encountering any bugs in. So if you play solo anyway, that would make you someone who might want to be interested right away...

Found this on Reddit... He remind you of anything?

From what I can tell reading around its a very rough gem at present, esp with its online side. That said I really hope it does well because the offline mode really interests me. For someone who likes to play singleplayer all these "MMO" style games tend to be a pain because their content is often diluted compared to singleplayer focused games and (big one) you can't play them offline - which means if your net isn't up to it you can't play - and you really notice it in fast action games.

That said from reading the reviews I think this is one of those games that could be a major title if they fix it and if they fix it fast enough to make a difference. If they fix it slower it might be a slow burning game that needs a sequel to secure itself. The risk with a 1.0 (full release) that needs a LOT of fixes is that it can mean that team/company isn't up to it or lacks the budget and time - which can sometimes mean that in 12 months we are still waiting for them to fix things with an ever increasing feeling that they might not get there.

I really hope they do well and get the game running and functioning as it should. I'd love to see them adding more content with their time an boosting sales and content.

Agreed on all counts. Full disclosure: I kickstarted this back in 2014 or whenever it was. And even though they went back on some of their promises an extremely promising game came out in the end. I have played up to level 20 in online mode, which has been difficult, and encountered many bugs, but so far haven't lost my stash or anything like that.

And the online mode isn't really trying to be an MMO. It's just the mode you play if you ever think you'll party with a friend or a few friends. It increases the challenge a bit but otherwise it's the same game as in offline mode.

I really am having fun with it, through the issues, and looking at SteamDB it's doing very well for itself. Even after Steam decided to allow "unlimited" refunds because of the poor launch, the percentage who have actually refunded it is pretty low; so I think that shows people have faith in it.

I was watching some videos of this one. Some parts of it look somewhat interesting, others are straight diablo 3, but some of the aesthetics, themes and voice acting are really... eh. (The main female NPC has 'stab me in the vitals' armor, for example, and the interaction where the main character 'proves' he isn't a demon to her is comically stupid, despite her seeing the PC transform into something decidedly non-human)

Its also stupidly loud by default, which gave me a bad initial impression.

Its probably worth keeping an eye on, but overall it seemed pretty over-the-top but still generic.

Haven’t played myself, but the aesthetic certainly looks cool!
Quick question for anyone who has played it. Most reviews I’ve seen seem to argue that the dungeon design is a bit on the bland or empty side. Would you say this is true, or have they improved on that aspect?

Was this earlier in development? I dunno, it feels pretty good to me. As a long-time Path of Exile player I think Wolcen is up there in most respects. But I'm only halfway through the story so far. Some areas were mesmerizing, some were what you'd expect from an ARPG, just with the added benefit of this game's graphical fidelity.

One thing I can criticize is the re-runnability of certain dungeons. Some are really hard to get back to once you've done them once. Because the waypoints are sometimes spread out too much.
