Howdy Dakka,

Playing some games next week at the 1000 point level. I'll be bringing my Death Guard, and the environment is what I would call semi-competitive. I haven't played much 8th ed at this level and I'm struggling a bit. Has anyone run their DG at 1000? Can you give me some advice? Currently, the list is centered around Typhus, Plague Marines and Poxwalkers/cultists. I've also tried using a detachment of the Gellerpox Infected (which are not great at high point levels, but seem to fill some gaps at this level).

What have you all done for your Death Guard at 1000?

Edit: I just googled ablutions and apparently it does not including dropping a duece. I should have looked it up early sorry for any confusion. - Baldsmug

Wait, what were we talking about again? Did I ever tell you about the time I gave you five bees for a quarter? That's what you'd say in those days, "give me five bees for a quarter", is what you'd say in those days. And you'd go down to the D&D shop, with an onion in your belt, 'cause that was the style of the time. So there I was in the D&D shop..."

In my experience with 1.000 point games (also in a semi competitive environment), DG can can actually still somewhat play to their intended strenghs. Meaning I try to make profit on our resilience. I usually field a Prince, a PBC, a FBD and a MBH and then fill up to a batallion.
I play the PBC rather agressively and push him (obv. with spewers) up the middle of the board or onto a central objective or something. the rest plays for objevtives or tries to make its points back.
Usually the enemy either focusses the PBC, which, at 1.000 points and miasmad can take a while - or, if he ignores it, I keep on pushing it forward right in his face and try to shut down his shooting with it and play for objectives with my other, more mobile units.
At higher point levels against a (semi) competitve enemy that approach is much harder, as with more points the enemy usually gets a lot more lethal and is usually equiped to rid either a pbc (even with miasma) or all my mobile units too quickly for me to really load up on VP before.
But in smaller games I've found this rather effective considering DGs otherwise rather tough spot in the current meta...

If you dont have a PBC (if playing DG you should) or dont want to field it, an arch-contaminator Prince with +2 or even 3 FBDs can be quite mobile, annoying and even dish out some hurt.

Agree, DG power comes from daemon engines and princes, sit pox walkers or cultists on objectives. MBH only work well in threes though.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

Thanks everyone! Gonna try the FBD/Demon Prince combo. Haven't actually broken that out at 1000pts so it should be interesting.
