Here's the question , a rules quote first;
Core Rule under Units. If anything causes a unit to become split up during a battle, it must re-establish its unit coherency the next time it moves.
Rule under Movement. Start your Movement phase by picking one of your units.......until you have moved as many of your units as you wish.
If I have a unit that is out of coherency do I have to move it, or can I just leave it alone, not move it and it stays out of coherency?
Cheers

If by the end of your next movement phase a unit is not in coherency it goes bye bye i believe.

From the Main Rulebook FAQ:
Q: If a unit is out of unit coherency, must that unit move to reestablish unit coherency, or can the unit remain stationary, thus staying out of coherency?
A: The unit can choose to remain stationary.

You may choose not to move the unit. There are even (obscure) circumstances where a unit is not capable of moving back into coherency.

The loosing a unit thing is from Apoc. And it's not really about coherency (because models don't get removed so units are ALWAYS in coherency) but staying in command with their detachments commander. A unit that started the turn with a out of command marker and does not return to command by the end of the turn is removed at the end of the turn.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

May also be thinking of Sigmar, where if you leave Coherency you have to remove models until those remaining are in coherency.
