I've done some 3D models for my Astra Militarum.
Being more or less locked down, I've got some spare time on hand. So it's time to do another model.
After having done small models - read Infantry - and large models - read Thunderbolt and Shadowsword -, it was time to do something in between.
There is a saying that you can't have enough tanks, but I do not feel the need to add many more at the moment. I've bought some Sentinels lately and found the model interesting, so I decided to go for a Sentinel - it's not that I need them and they are not expensive to buy so my excuse is that they look interesting to do and I might be able to print one on my resin printer as a single piece.
I've just finished the outer shell, so driver and interior are still missing.
That's what the model looks in the Printer Software, before applying supports.
That's what it looks like directly after the print.
And cleaned up.
Before going on to design the interior, I will paint it up, to check what's wrong about it.

If you made that from scratch, your attention to detail is impressive.
I would have to look very hard to see a difference from the original this is inspired from.

Looks neat, though if you did the 3D model I would have changed up the always-boring cage above the driver. Looks like a solid print though. Nicely done.

Elbows has a point, the armored version could be fully enclosed and just put a support structure inside.
How is material cost on that?
Would it work any better slicing it a bit?
I have just been putting together a print a friend gave me: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/786822.page
So now I am going into Fusion 360 dusting off my CAD, what did you make this guy in?
I REALLY like my chicken walkers and applied magnets like crazy on these:

I like the frame. It looks good and makes sense.
The other Scout variant, which is like an armoured Sentinel without top, IMHO is silly.
If you want to be different, adding a horizontal wire may help.
But I'd leave the top area free to allow the driver tom emerge as quickly as possible.
A meshed top like on the SdKfz 222 might be an alternative. But I'm not sure how well that would print.
Anyway interior and driver come first.
The model incl. supports is 23.7 ml. With spill and resin clinging to the model probably more like 30ml per model.
I use Cinema 4D for modelling. Mainly because I use it for ... like forever.
The model is designed in modules and I could print them separately. But I really like having solid models, because the resin is often difficult to be glued. And pins and pegs are sometimes tiresome to get right with resin.

These look quite good. Am I the only one who thinks that? Poor GW might be in for some competition.

Gave it a quick coat of color. Here it is together with an original:
The original has a custom crew. And I just realised I forgot the eagle on the front.

The parts for version 2.
The driver is still printing
This time in parts, because I used a higher print resolution.
The printer allows you to trade build space for resolution.

The last version painted.
Close enough, probably no cigar, but at least a cigarillo.
Now the question is where to go from here?
Doing a custom version like the Elysian Drop Sentinel or just some interesting engine poses and/or crew poses.

Fill all fast attack and Heavy slots with 3 vehicle squads??
Donate the STL files to my 3D printing insane Squat playing friend??
I am just finishing this thing he did for me before he sends me something "bigger":
He has some experience with "chicken walkers".

3 Fast Attacks Slots with 3 vehicles each sounds tempting.
I will not distribute STLs. Having said that, I have some things published on thingiverse, but nothing that could possibly be rated as a look a like.
I like your big guy. I thought about doing files for one of them, but decided it would take a lot of time to design and print.

Still a solid print, just think the top frame is too boring (even on the actual kit from GW).

Ok here we go again.
That's 6 now - 1 Original plus 5 of my own.
3 have the standard top, 3 use a meshed top - 1 closed, 1 damaged,1 half open.
As you can see 2 of the meshed top ones have the exhausts turned to the side to get a lower profile, which makes sense for a scout vehicle.
I thought about other changes, but the driver fills the cockpit out nicely, there is not much to shave off. So I leave it at that. 6 Scout Sentinels are more than I will ever need anyway.

I do like how you seem to make the designing look "easy" showing that a few design modifications could have been achieved to look good.]
I figured with all the clearance they might as well had the exhaust aim down.
All in all, very nice!
