Well, here is my first major necron unit. Sheesh it's harder than painting a land raider! It's not going to win any awards but I just hyope it looks ok on a tabletop.
Yes I have a cheap phone as I refuse to spend like 500$ on something that could be broken at any time.

Next step is a good green wash over all the green bits to even it out a little. If I'm not laughed at too badly I may lost more images later,

This is a really solid start, especially for a first unit in a project! In my experience, a strong dark green glaze might help smooth out some of those colour transitions!
And don't be too hard on yourself, we all started projects at some point or other that didn't initially start as perfect as we'd imagined. This is a great opportunity to look at what you think didn't go so well, and learn how to really nail it the next time! Painting is all about progress, and that means making mistakes sometimes. No-one here is gonna laugh at you.

What's "pitiful" about that? It looks good so far. I can imagine all those tower things that look like ribs are a nightmare to paint. The green you've got on them looks cool, you've judged the highlight tone very nicely. You could call that section finished if you like.
What are you planning on doing on the back end? It it going to be silver? One thing you could do is add a few small red areas as a spot colour to contrast with the green. Like, those small lights on the top of each rib, you could do them a really bright red, and that would actually make the green stand out more.
It's looking good so far. Keep going!

I'm going to highlight the silver bits on the front and sides, then do the back in green too. It will be mostly green with a few metal highliths and the pilot.
Still thinking on how to paint the DDC.

Starting new project with the hardest and most annoying model they have eh?-)
Good job. I myself paint the thing in pieces to help me out. Maybe consider that in future and see if it's any easier?
But good job so far.

Added some silver touches, put the green glow on the targeter under the gun and the Gauss rods. Have much more to do, generally mostly not bothering too much with the underside.

Update. Completion draws nigh.I just need a real base to hold it on while painting the bits I hold it by, the engine ports.

https://flic.kr/p/2iRPF3n
I think it still looks like it dropped out of a plaguebearer's buttboill, but people are saying it looks good. Maybe i'm being too self critical and am comparing it to the jobs done by the paintbots gw has genetically and cybernetically engineered to paint to an inhuman dergree.
My phone finally let me upload the most recent pix I took with it so here they are featuring little pilot cron.
My pix aren't great, I spend less than 100$ on a smartphone that does what I need, not 400-1000 on a phone I don't need so I tried to improve my pix by making a cheap lightbox out of two long sheets of paper and some tape.

BTW, the pilot may be little but he can be a big SOBs mother to install if you want to hook the rigid cables on his back up to the column behind him. While it may seem like a lot of work I kinda recommend cutting the cables off, drilling holes in his back with a pin vice, drilling holes in the column behind him and using bits of thin guitar strong or something similar and flexible. Put the cables in the holes in the pilot'b cack, put hin in place on the seat the use tweazers to put the other end thru the holes in the column. It makes the pilot a little more poseable and can be easier to do than getting the stiff cables on his back to line up right with the column points.
And again it makes pilot cron a little more poseable.
Edit. hours later.
As could be expected I'm getting better at edging the paint. Much better use of colors and washes. Lines getting better, not up to GW's generally impossible standards of course. Looking a little like Tron vehicles i guess.
