So I fiddled around with Death Eagles schemes back in this thread https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/777291.page, and back in October I put together a small Battalion and have been poking away at it intermittently since then. Turns out enforced isolation helps getting stuff done! All models have Puppets War eagle shoulderpads to emulate the old Death Eagle minis and shoulder icons from Shapeways.

First, Primaris Captain, converted with a MkIV armor power fist and plasma pistol from a Hellblaster kit, because I could never get to the local GW stores on their birthdays.

Next, a Primaris Lieutenant. From Wake the Dead.

Then another Primaris Lieutenant, from Dark Imperium but an arm swap from an Intercessor kit.

My first Intercessor squad has Stalker Bolt Rifles and a Thunder Hammer from the Veteran Vanguard kit. I like the idea of Thunder Hammers in Intercessor squads, even if they're a bit pricey.

Second Intercessor squad with Auto Bolt Rifles and Thunder Hammer.

Third Intercessor squad, again with Auto Bolt Rifles and Thunder Hammer.

That's it! These guys take forever to paint but I hope to keep plugging away at them.

That's a really unique look, well-executed. Very nice work!

Thank you! Though I should mention that GW invented this chapter back around 1990, and even released 3 miniatures specifically for this chapter. I painted them and a few other miniatures but I never had the money at the time to do an entire army.

Alternating plates are pretty difficult to compose; nice job with those.

I tried to be a bit inconsistent with them. Every soldier has his own personal heraldry, though some things, like helmet pattern, are consistent in the squad. There are a few other identifiers, like novices having halved knee marks rather than quartered, officers getting gold helmets while sergeants get gold crests. But the governing principle is always that the easier it is to reach with a brush, the more I can do with it.

Really nice; they look well worth the effort. The bases look great also.

Really like the look, like the changes you have made from the old 3 Death Eagles from White Dwarf. Great job.

It's not nearly as bad as, say, Howling Griffons, or Celebrants.

Any kind of quartered or mixed pattern gets a thumbs up from me. Awesome work.
