So I’m putting together my first winged HT and I was going to put boneswords two devourers with brain leaches. As far as I can tell the rules let me, but the model itself doesn’t allow for it. Do I need to get creative with placement or am I missing something simple?

If you have the original and latest model you will see he has what apears to be scything tallons on his feet. (Or maiby rending claws, as nobody has evern been able to find an oficial model with rending claws.)

People kit bashed double devourers on them to the point where forge world made their own model to cash in on the design. Or you can take the flesh borer hives and say they count as two from the tyranofex kit. Lastly have a look on raveners chest cannons and copy that design.

It's a common problem with the hive tyrant model.
The wings take up an arm slot on the model, but the model is still allowed to take 2 weapons in its rules. So you have to get creative.

The most common melee weapon taken on them is Monstrous Rending Claws. Since the wings sort of have claws, most people just count them as the weapon.
The feet also work as scything talons.

Boneswords are a bit trickier though, and you'll have to do some converting.

Some possible solutions I've seen people use are:
1. Mount the wings on the back of the model, instead of in the arm slots. Downside is it requires a fair bit of converting.

2. Mount weapons on the legs. Requires less converting, but looks kinda goofy.

3. Mount weapons on the wings.

4. Mount the devourers onto the hilts of the boneswords, so each arm is holding two weapons.

The 3rd edition hive tyrant came with rending claws, as part of the monstrous weapons sprue. The same sprue that used to come with warriors.

I just cut the arm sockets for the bone sword/lashwhip and glued it in between the arm socket for the wings and arm socket for the devourers. So essentially it has 6 arms. Looks totally fine, you wouldn't even notice it was a conversion tbh.

You just have to get an exacto knife and shape the socket properly to fit and make it seamless. A little greenstuff to fill in the gaps and youre good to go.

Part of the problem is that after their major redesign wave in fourth edition, every tyranid ground trooper (ie. those you see on tabletop) has had six limbs so just attaching more arms in there clashes with the general aesthetic (there are other shared details too, like the five forehead plates). My old melee flyrant had scything talons bursting out of the back of its rending claw hands for this reason, even if that's not a hard limit and you should get as creative with your adaptable bio-killers as you want to.

So I think I’ll count the claws on the wings as MRC and will buy the devourers from FW when they re-open. Thanks all for the help.

The FW Devourers are meant to represent two pairs of Devourers, so, all your weapons. If you count the wings as MRCs, you would then only be adding a single pair of Devourers, which can be found in the Carnifex kit.

So looking through my bits, I found a carnifex sprue and got the devourers. Thanks all.
