Hi guys,
So a few months ago, my friend gave me 2,500 points of IF to paint. Thanks to the quarantine, it's done. All is painted.
Except this damned little guy that won't glue !
My friend told me this model doesn't come from a normal box, I think it is from Conquest, it may be important to note.
I washed it, I sanded it, I tried GW plastic glue, I tried super glue...
Do you have any idea ? Do I need to wash and / or sand more ?
Have you ever had the same issue ?

Have you tried zip-kicker with the super glue? Instant bonding.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

How sure are you that it's from Conquest as opposed to being a resin counterfeit?

Some resins don't take glue well. Plastic glue obviously won't work at all, and superglue may need an accelerator or primer.

IF it is conquest it shouldd be colored plastic.
Is so it should be taking plastic glue.
Do you fiddle with it after you glue? or touch it at all?

I see ! Didn't think of that.
Well I'll ask him anyway and try superglue today.
You are right, he is grey and not blue so not from conquest !

I'd try Revell contacta, it should work. I assume you have cleaned both joint parts?. If I'm doing a repair I scrape joins with a scalpel to take any previous residue off.

The Conquest partworks should be getting their sprues from GW, so that shouldn't make a difference.

Can't say I have had problems with the blue Conquest models, but I was using the GW plastic glue.

Ok so I washed and sanded it and used super glue and spent time holding him all together, and it actually worked this time.
We may never know...
But it's done !

It sounds like you have a resin recast of the model.

I have definitely noticed that the solvent, plastic 'glue' isn't glue, takes longer on the coloured plastics than the usual grey models, particularly with the Contacta.

Contacta changed formulation a few years ago.

It's no longer the wonder it was, changing from the 1% toluene to the n-buty-acetate solvent because of changes to Euro ROHS regs (Toluene is an EU nasty now, and styrene doesn't quite melt as well with the n-butyl-acetate as it did with the older toluene solution).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Why am I not surprised?
