This is my first attempt at a starship interior from HDF with a laser engraver and cutter.
Lots more work to do but I think it's came out ok so far .....

Thank you.
I plan on doing a full set for a table, including the standard 90 degree turn, T piece, 4 way junction, and a 3 and 5 square room, plus longer and shorter corridors, and dead ends, then move onto moveable doors, lots of different floor panels, and loads of varying wall panels.
First proto came out ok as a work in progress but I got the maths wrong on the joining up to all the other pieces (i'm planning on using magnets) so have to revist that before doing the next pieces.

Finally re-did the maths, and reworked the masters. Now they line up properly and click together as they should (with magnets).
90 degree corner test burn completed and dry-fit for testing. No texture on the wall panels but they fit.
T piece next ...

Plenty of progress made. I've run out of hdf though so not as much as I would have liked. All dry-fit and working as intended.
3 square room next.

This is a marvelous project- the precision of the cuts and the exact match-up of the angles appeals very much to the OCD control freak in me. Great demonstration of what can be done with a CNC/cutter!

Thank you.
Everything EXCEPT the wall panels, slot together using pre cut slot and joints, but the wall panels I didn't want to ruin any potential "textures" by cutting slots into them and having them glaringly show up after painting. I got round it by making secondary angled internal ribs and having them slot into the outer walls and the base for increased strength, and using them as internal floor joists, again for strength and to keep the floor panels from moving or "bowing".
The intention is to lay the wall panels onto the slanted ribs and end panels, as seen in the dry-fit pictures above, and then to superglue them in place. Whether that be pre or post painting is still to be decided. My brother however, thinks that there was too much potential for glueing them slightly wrong, and that I should have everything interlock with slots and tabs like most other mdf kits do but so far I'm resistant as I think it will mess up the look.
I've glued a few and so far none of them are out of line, so i'm pretty sure I can do the whole set and have them line up properly.
Long term, after all the prototypes are made and tested, I've talked with my nephew about all sorts of options, such as incorporating engraved and cut acrylic into the wall panels, having internal exposed ribbing / truss-work (for damaged sections), moveable doors, different wall textures, even a double width set, and more ... so many possiblities, so little free time
I'n our more ludicrous musings we even discussed stacking, but not seriously ...
I have however been poring over eBay listings for used Space Hulk miniatures and i've nabbed a couple of auctions so the tiles will definitely be used in the future.

A quick proto of a moveable door.
Measurements are ever so slightly out, (needs 1mm shaving off the bottom) but it seems to work ok as a concept.
It's double sided so the same pattern and ring are on both sides, making the door 12mm wide in total, not too big that it obscures a floor square but substantial enough that gravity holds it in place without it being lopsided.

Are these just for your own use or are they going to be commercially available at some point?

Thank you
They are primarily for my use with my nephew and brother to play on, and I actually started taking the pictures to keep him appraised of my progress. We started the project together but with the social distancing thing we haven't seen each other in person in about six weeks so I was sending them to him as updates before posting here.
I have however, been asked a few times in in the last two weeks if I would get them made for sale, as well as whether I would consider kickstarting them once all the prototypes were done.
I can't say it's something i've really planned but the idea does appeal, and I admit to being very intrigued to see how people would paint and/or convert them for their own use as painting is not my strong point. I'm dreading doing the genestealers when it comes time...

Have been messing about with offcuts while I wait for the materials supplier to get back to normal, and have done some more door prototypes and messed with a potential wall texture.
The doors came out ok, just need to be careful when glueing them together as I use superglue for speed and misaligning can be a right pain.
Progress pictures attached.

Amazing! if I could get some i'd buy it too! you could always sell your design files to other companies in different countries (like Australia *wink wink) so they can produce locally and save on shipping? i'm not 100% sure on how that all works but I am sure that I really like this stuff and am very impressed.

@Nerdfest09 - It's definitely something to consider, but not until i've designed all the pieces I want to do, and am happy with how they go together.
So far none of the pieces were properly glued, other than a few test magnets to check the line up worked properly. This coming week I am going to glue them all together with all the magnets in place and then move onto more designing and tweaking of measurements.
I've just done a test burn on the 3-square room, and other than one minor error, it was pretty much spot on first time. Dry-fit pictures below.
The 5-square room is about 50% designed but i've completely run out of sheet material so will just keep tweaking until I get hold of more, and move onto doing dead ends, longer corridors etc ...

Got the sheet supply sorted finally, and have just completed a test burn of the 5 square room. It's needs some tweaking, mainly on the wall joints not meeting up correctly, but it's not far off .
In person it's a lot bigger than I thought it was going to be, not doing bigger than this.
Working on the Double entry 3 square room next (90 degree) and then double entry 3 square room (pass through) as per the original space hulk tiles.
Second pic is size comparison with basic corridor.

_THIS_ is what every one of us was imagining when Space Hulk came out thirty some years ago! We've tried Linka and Hirst Arts molds (and some of us did extremely impressive jobs using them) but your MDF-laser-cut designs have that clean, space age look that the original game tiles conveyed.
The geometry of all the angles makes my head hurt and my eyes water!
