I've decided to get back into 2nd Edition Epic - i.e., Space Marine/Titan Legions.

Why?

Well, because it is definitely the most fun I've ever had with any GW game.

And because I love the scale of the miniatures, and it feels like the 'best' way to depict warfare in the 41st Millennium.

Possibly the only place Titans 'should' hit the table too!

The plan is to build up armies for all of the available factions from the 2nd Edition era.

Through a combination of what I still had from "Back In The Day", eBay purchases and 3D Printing, I should now be able to field large and varied forces for them all.

This will be helpful as I'll probably have a hard time finding a lot of opponents with existing armies - but an easier time at getting my gaming friends to throw some dice using armies provided for them.

Leaning towards Ultramarines for the Space Marine army - their blue is easy to paint up, and will look good on the table alongside my chosen (er, still TBD) Titan Legion - Legio Oberon (orange baby!) or Legio Crucius. Though I'd really prefer Legio Destructor - but no one knows what their official color scheme is. Maybe it's orange too?!?

For Chaos, I'll be painting up a card's worth of each of the Big 4 Legions - World Eaters, Emperor's Children, Thousand Sons and Death Guard - so I can field their Daemon Primarchs (of course!) with them, along with their Patron God's Deamon War Machines.

Eldar will be Biel-Tan. I'll have one support card for each of the Aspects... and I LOVE the old school Eldar Titans - especially the Warlock Titan.

For Orks, a clan card each of Goffs, Bad Moons, Speed Freaks and Blood Axes. And lots of Gargants - Mek, Slasha, Great and Mega!

Squats - maybe the League of Thor, but that might be too much blue after painting Ultramarines.

Imperial Guard - probably the good old oft pictured Necromunda army:

Spoiler:

Grey should be relatively easy to paint for all the troops too.

Tyranids, I'll probably stick with the 'official' color schemes - I like them, and it's good enough for the dirty Xenos bugs!

I haven't been this fired up for building and painting in a long time...

To start it off, here are some primed up Stormhammers (all time favorite Super Heavy Tank), Leviathans (in this ruleset, if you're bringing one, you probably better bring two!), Predators and Vindicators:

I think I'll start painting some Stormhammers tomorrow.

(Taking pics and looking at zoomed in images reveals a few areas that need attention - should be quick and easy and then on to painting)

Oooh, pretty! Are those all old models, or are there some 3d prints hidden in there?

All of those are actually 3D printed!

I've got some more 3D printed models coming up too, but then after that it will all be old school GW Epic minis.

I often wonder how awesome 'official' GW Epic Infantry and Vehicle models would be if they made them today - some of the stuff that came out during 3rd Edition was fantastic...but then I think about how much they'd charge for them!

That's one heck of a project, and a heck of a lot of tanks already!

In this edition, I'm fairly sure Imperial Guard could still also use Vindicators and Predators, so there might be a support card or two for them in there as well...

Stormhammers are ready!

Well, ready for their Testors Dullcote, but it's way too humid here today, so hopefully within the next few days.

Then, off to paint infantry - Space Marines.

Lots of Space Marines...

They came off of an Elegoo Mars resin printer and yes, they are fantastic.

Much thanks to all the dedicated hobbyists out there that design these things and then upload them for any and all to use too - there are some amazing STLs out there.

Also, I think I've decided on going with Blood Angels for my Space Marine army of choice.

I was thinking of Dark Angels too, possibly, so I could field a Ravenwing company card, but I've always had a soft spot for Sanguinius' boys, so...
