So I am fair new to 30k and want to start collecting world eaters. I've been toying with a few lists and this is what I have managed to refine. Any feed back would be great.
Note I refuse to use Spartans as it seems to be in most lists. The command squad isn't optimal but I really like the idea of it.

...How many Chosen are in your command squad? The squad limit is supposed to be five, and one of them's supposed to be a standard bearer.

I strongly advise not using the Typhon if you're planning on playing other people in any context outside a competitive event. The cover-ignoring AP2 7" blast is horribly format-warping and you will find other people refusing games just because they see that model.

I'd also suggest trying to work stronger melee weapons into your list. Sixty chainaxe Assault Marines is a perfectly fine place to start a list, and they'll chop through a lot of stuff, but you do have the option to add a power weapon per five guys and powerfists on the sergeants, which will let you fight things volume of S5 alone can't easily damage (MCs, vehicles, Terminators).

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

Really solid list,

Will be fairly strong with the typhon but in 3k this shouldnt be an issue for most opponents as you have little armour in other places.

Worth finding points to add some power axes to your assault squad, this will give them a huge advantage over other troops.

Twin falax blades are great fun, but beware your sergeants may go down in a challenge.

Contemptors are generally only worth their points if they are a bit more of a shooting platform. I would say a kortus would be a great choice for a cc WE dread as their special rules with get them into combat fast (also you can get away with just the one chainfist). With the grav guns being blast you wont find much of a difference with the drop in bs.

As said have a double check of your command squad build. Also bear in mind that scimitar bikes are very pricey, and the 2+ you are paying for as part of that already comes standard on chosen. Standard bikes can be a bit more cost effective, but not quite as cool! An apothecary in with these guys would be great too, maximize the T5 so you get fnp off things like powerfists.

But as you say, go with models you think are ace and you wont go wrong! That list will keep your head above water and will be forgiving to play.
