KILTER FILMS TEAMS WITH AMAZON STUDIOS TO DEVELOP SERIES BASED ON FALLOUT JULY 2, 2020 Amazon Studios has licensed the rights to the worldwide best-selling game franchise Fallout, with acclaimed producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy’s Kilter Films attached to produce the project, currently in development with a series commitment. Amazon Studios has licensed the rights to the worldwide best-selling game franchise Fallout, with acclaimed producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy’s Kilter Films attached to produce the project, currently in development with a series commitment. "Fallout is one of the greatest game series of all time. Each chapter of this insanely imaginative story has cost us countless hours we could have spent with family and friends. So we're incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios,” said Lisa Joy and Jonathan Nolan, Kilter Films. “Over the last decade, we looked at many ways to bring Fallout to the screen,” said Todd Howard, Executive Producer at Bethesda Game Studios. “But it was clear from the moment I first spoke with Jonah and Lisa a few years ago, that they and the team at Kilter were the ones to do it right. We’re enormous fans of their work and couldn’t be more excited to work with them and Amazon Studios.” “Fallout is an iconic global franchise, with legions of fans worldwide and a rich, deeply compelling storyline that powers it. And Jonah and Lisa are the perfect storytellers to bring this series to life,” said Albert Cheng, COO and Co-Head of Television, Amazon Studios. “We’re thrilled to join with Bethesda to bring Fallout to television.” The world of Fallout is one where the future envisioned by Americans in the late 1940s explodes upon itself through a nuclear war in 2077. The magic of the Fallout world is the harshness of the wasteland set against the previous generation’s utopian idea of a better world through nuclear energy. It is serious and harsh in tone, yet sprinkled with moments of ironic humor and B-movie-nuclear-fantasies. Fallout games have achieved record-setting sales and received hundreds of awards, including dozens of Game of the Year awards, while its mobile game, Fallout Shelter, has been downloaded more than 170 million times. Fallout is from Amazon Studios and Kilter Films in association with Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks, with executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, and Athena Wickham for Kilter Films, Todd Howard for Bethesda Game Studios, and James Altman for Bethesda Softworks. Through Kilter Films' overall deal with Amazon, they are currently in pre-production on the techno-thriller drama The Peripheral, based on the William Gibson novel, which follows a woman in a near-future America in which technology has started to subtly alter society. Kilter Films also produces HBO's Westworld which just wrapped its third season and was recently picked up for a fourth season. The series has amassed 43 Emmy nominations along with DGA, WGA, PGA and SAG Awards nominations. Kilter also has produced interactive and transmedia marketing for its series, including a Westworld Super Bowl spot directed by Nolan. Joy recently directed her debut feature film Reminiscence, for Warner Bros., starring Hugh Jackman, Rebecca Ferguson, and Thandie Newton. Joy wrote the script, which landed on The Black List, and produced with her Kilter Films partner Nolan, Michael De Luca and Aaron Ryder. Link.

Hope Bethsoft gets cracking on a new Fallout game to get the cross promotion going.
Though they may be doing just that and its why the next Elder Scrolls game is so far down the pike.

Did Fulgrim Just Behead Ferrus?

Yeah, it would be a missed opportunity for them to not have a new Fallout game to cash in on it. As I recall, FO4 was a bit of a surprise release, wasn't it? Released within a year of it's announcement or something like that?

Preacher of the Emperor

Two characters debate the morality of stealing desperately needed food off someone they just killed. You killed that guy/he was gonna kill me, that kind of stuff. It escalates as long as it needs to in order to fill out the runtime. They finally agree to take just the food and ammo because they need it to survive.
As they approach the body it's right hand starts to flop around unnaturally, the tremors move up its arm and shoulder while the rest of the body stays still. One slowly, cautiously, reaches out to grab the pistol laying at its side...
Suddenly! The hand leaps up, as though ejected by conflicting data in the physics engine, propelling it from the ground with such force that it, the arm, and the entire body, gear and all, are propelled thousands of miles into the air, disappearing over the horizon.
The two stare in stunned silence for a moment, before one breaks out into a run, maybe they can still find the body out there, somewhere.

Every episode ends with Preston Garvey saying “Another settlement needs your help...” Our protagonist sighs, turns, walks into the sunset with Dogmeat, credits roll.

I guess the question is if they'll go to areas that have already been visited in previous games (in the same time period or otherwise) or if they'll aim for completely new parts of America with different factions beyond what we're used to (except the Brotherhood of Steel I assume, since they're too much of a staple for them to abandon, especially a new show). I feel like if they go down the route of some the cooler ideas of the DLC's (i.e. the Sierra Madre or Old World Blues) there could be a lot of potential.

Not sure how I feel about this. So much of Fallout is built on character choices and variable outcomes, with an intense attachment to the player character, with an almost completely wide open moral compass, that I'm not sure how you'd translate that to the big screen without it feeling...off?
Unless they're going to get into some of the background stuff, like the rise of the Master or something. That could be cool. But the Wasteland is there to be explored and lived, not watched. It'll be interesting to see how it turns out.

The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts. |

A Mostly Renegades and Heretics blog.
GW:"Space marines got too many options to balance, therefore we decided to legends HH units."
Players: "why?!? Now we finally got decent plastic kits and you cut them?"
Chaos marines players: "Since when are Daemonengines 30k models and why do i have NO droppods now?"
GW" MONEY.... erm i meant TOO MANY OPTIONS (to resell your army to you again by disalowing former units)! Do you want specific tyranid fighiting Primaris? Even a new sabotage lieutnant!"
Chaos players: Guess i stop playing or go to HH. |

Like Ive said before thats part of the problem with doing rpgish games in other mediums as everyone has 'their' personal version of the story, even if thats broadly shared with a % of the playerbase, going broad enough to draw a mainstream audience risks falling into it not being what either party will watch past novelty
