Is it worth picking up a second set of the minis for force building purposes? I know that was a thing to do with some editions. Not sure it applies here.
I'm not really sold on the idea of multiples.
1) There are 9 characters in the set. How often are you going to want 2? [Exception- necrons may want multiple plasmancers, just to toss mortal wounds around every turn like they were psykers or something.]
2) The special units- like the Skorpekh destroyers and the primaris bikers may get other/better weapon options in a full kit.
3) Warriors are rather mediocre as is, and they're a big chunk of the necron force in this box. On the other hand, Scarabs are tied directly to their sprues again, so warriors major contribution may be scarabs.
4) Reanimator looks rather meh.
5) If you have multiple crypteks, you may want multiple groups of thralls for their bodyguarding ability.
6) the primaris side is really specialized. Anyone can see what the eradicators can do, but the Space Marine _foot-slogging_ melee horde is definitely limited to a deliberate build. (Hint: go white scars). A unit of these is fine to toy around with, fill gaps or mono-task with some support. But I don't see a general army going particularly heavy on them. At least not heavy to the point of two full units of each, let alone more.
