Trying to get one of my kids interested in Bolt Action, he is pretty keen to learn WW2 stuff, but trying to build the guys from Warlord is extremely frustrating. Some of them don't even have their hands attached for crying out loud!! Way too many fiddly little parts to glue on and he doesn't much fancy the building part - and I agree, it is rather tedious.

Does anyone even make WW2 guys that are easy to build? I mean like the Victrix historical stuff, where maybe you glue on an arm and a head and that's it.

As an aside, it does make me wonder if in pursuit of ever greater detail were are cutting off new blood from the hobby. He can't be the only kid intimidated by having to assemble a guy who has been cut into 6 parts.

If you can accept 1/72 miniatures then Valiant has some nice easy to build and one piece stuff for ww2.

There might still be some DUST miniatures on miniature market for a decent price. They are pre-assembled, but as much Weird War Two as World War 2.

Greetings. The Warlord stuff is incredibly daunting and frustrating to put together. Makes GW's easy-build press fit kits that much more dominant.

Good luck. Also, depending on what rule set you are using, most 15mm minis are single piece metal. Might be a far better way to go, especially if doing something Like Chain of command (excellent game) that allows for any scale. Just a thought.

Lots of WW2 single pose metals out there Black Tree design comes to mind.

For example; my German vulkstum(sp?) Is solid metal bodies, glue on metal heads. A few need 1 arm attached.
With the exception of 1 half-track, 1 panzer IV, & the bases, my entire army is metal.

I'd imagine there's other all metal units in other factions.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I checked them all out and it seems that for WW2 Plastics, Warlord by far has the most for 28mm, and it isn't even close.

PSC has 3 Russian sets, Perry Bros for Afrika Korps has even fewer at 2 sets. In metal Black Tree has some, but their website has no pics, and frankly they are quite a lot of money, all things considered.

I really have to say how disappointed I am. For so popular a period to game in, there really is a dearth of product in plastic to choose from. I wasn't expecting this outcome at all.

Well you could try the newer bolt action us infantry or the plastic winter Germans. They go together pretty fast. As for monopose , I doubt you’ll find many in 28mm People generally don’t want or need them.
When you only have a few squads on the table the idea of them all looking the same isn’t appealing. It’s ok for blocks of line infantry Where you have massed formations but doesn’t fit with ww2 .

If you can find anywhere that has a copy the latest issue of war games illustrated had a free sprue of winter Germans with it. Grabbed a copy myself even though already have a box I’m now working on.

I've not had much luck finding a copy where I live, and if I do, it is always with nothing other than the magazine.

Might have to subscribe if that's the case. I've always thought it was a fun magazine, free random minis is nice.

There’s not always a free sprue of minis with each issue but I’ve seen a lot of issues that have had them. There’s been all sorts from the nap wars to ww2. Most of the time they are all sold before I get a copy. lol.

Had about 3 sprues over the last year or so and all been for bolt action. Might sub myself and cancel my white dwarf sub.

If you are after monopose, have a look at Artizan designs, they are metal but they do have great detail. Also they do a couple of ranges of figures in sets of 10, which work out at £14 UK . Also Crusader miniatures do ranges but only in packs of 4. I know what you mean about Warlord's plastics, the amount of times I've snapped rifles... To be honest if you really want plastic then you might have to drop down a in scale, Plastic soldier company have some nice figs with very little assembly in 15mm scale. In 1/72 you can get figures in either very bendy plastic through to hard plastic.

I would recommend Artizan as well. Lead free pewter, single piece sculpts with good casting quality/barely present mould lines. Great style of sculpting and detail. North Star Military Figures handles their website and fulfillment and they are awesome too.

VAT (tax) is removed for customers outside the UK/EU so shipping is pretty much paid for by that disount. I get my orders from North Star/Artizan in about 2 weeks.

Remember to think about bases as well. Whether you go with laser cut mdf, use metal fender washers or go with plastic bases, you'll need something if what you choose ends up not coming with bases.
