Subject: Did Eldar Rangers lose their negative hit modifier?

Per the FAQ:
*Page 94 – Rangers, Abilities, Cameleoline Cloaks
Change to read:
‘Each time a ranged attack is allocated to a model in this unit
while it is receiving the benefits of cover, add an additional 1 to
any armour saving throw made against that attack.’
Does this replace the entire Cameleoline Cloak ability or just the cover save part?

It looks like a complete rewrite of the cloaks, so this text completely replaces their current version which, if you say provided a -1 to be shot at, no longer applies.

Yes, don't worry, its not just you, lictors lost theirs too (now same as above.
Edited because I originally posted deathleaper had lost his -2 as well, but this turned out to be incorrect. So lictors are now +1 extra on saves in cover, while deathleaper is that (instead of +2 saves) and -2 to hit.
Honestly i don't think they've lost much really, with the new terrain rules it should be fairly easy to get them at -1 anyway.

Plus makes them more effective in alaitoc where -1 to hit would lose much of it's point

It's just GW admitting that no-one runs anything but Alatioc, so they are removing a redundant rule.

But the Alaitoc characters still keep the -1 to hit - they got the same change, but only to the "last sentence." So I think more likely it's just another Gee-dubs special where they didn't proofread what they were doing carefully enough.

It does. The basics of it is that this puts it in line with the Marine Cameloline Cloaks.

GW likes to randomly remove -1 to hit rules from xenos models when editions change. Just ask my warbikers!

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |

Yeah...not really.
I've been saying since the Raven Guard trait got changed that we'd be seeing a reduction of the -1 to hit stuff or additional caveats added. It's always been dumb anyways that Eldar capes do something different to everyone else's.

So it looks like I'm back to using Dire Avengers as my main "cheap" Troops then.
I only added Rangers to my army because GW took away my *real* Troops - Windriders.
But since it's looking like you'll still need Battalion, I'll add some DAs instead. Always liked them better anyway.
