I'm bored! And I'm considering a unnecessarily difficult modeling project!

Quadrupedal Marines. Four-legged centaur Marines.

Has anyone done anything like that? Or have any advice on how to make it look decent?

I've not done it but I have seen photos of things like "My Little Pony Marines". Which is probably a good starting point for searching up the idea as that might at least give you some ideas on how people have made centaur style marines.

Garch. Thanks for the tip!

Though at least on initial googling, I'm failing to find much in terms of HOW to convert. If you have any links or anything, I'd greatly appreciate it!

How far down the rabbit hole do you want to go?

I’d suggest starting with an SM model without legs. Find a farm playset with in-scale horses (1/36 is a best estimate). Cut off the head, shape the torso onto the front / neck area of the horse.

Or, not sure of scale, I think there’s a Cyber Mastif model for Arbites, and fantasy-wise the Storm Cast have gryph-hounds, I think.

Chaos Dwarves have Bull Centaurs that might be in scale.

I do want the quad part to be armored, as all Marines are.

So ordinary playset horses would not work.

Gryph-hounds might work, though.

Try a search for “Kharon the Cyberdog”.

Interesting.

I should also note-I play at an actual GW, so minimal outside parts if possible.

I know, not as good value and not as many options. But it is what it is.

The problem will be getting the armoured rear legs and horse body. You could maybe start with fulminators and then GS armour plate onto the "skin" bits. Or alternatively maybe start with the admech mechanical.horses and try to add some additional plates over the augmetic bits.

Either way, the head needs to come off and.a marine torso grafelted on. Reivers might be a good start but hard to make the visible muscle stuff blend into the horse torso. Alternatively maybe gravis would be better with an already chunky belly plate.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I'd personally be thinking empire knight horses (think they're called free cities now?), leave the heads off, and space marine bodies from the belt up, joined with beading/pinning wire, and the gap filled with green stuff sculpted as chain maile, or plasticard plates, possibly even some ogre gutplates. Main issue I'd think would be the more sharp gothic style barding contrasting with the more rounded space marine armor.

A canonically viable option would be to to the boss man of the soul drinkers. Can't remember his name, but he was warp tainted and had spider legs.

To follow up since I dug them out of storage, a (chaos) space marine torso taured to a reaper hellhound, but same idea if using empire knight or chaos chosen (more expensive but possibly more thematically matched) horses:

How I set it up, note thats two separate wire chunks, not one long spitroast:

Now I'm feeling tempted to pull the parts I had for these guys out and finish them...

I would be looking at the Skiitari legs, being digitigrade, could give you a good basis for the rear legs of a marine centaur.

Just please, please make an apothecary and call it the centaur for disease control.

True, true. No corrupting the perfect pony form.

I’ve done centaur conversions for chaos knights, skeletons, and a wight, but not Space Marines. Armoring the back half with the right aesthetic is going to be rough. And heretical.

Maybe "scale" type armour, made from flattened shoulder armour?

Is this going to be more than a one-off build for the giggles?

No clue!

We’ll see how hard the first one is. And how expensive.
