Several active players and veterans of Necromunda are combining forces to create a new Necromunda Community Edition based on the latest re-release of Necromunda (2017-2020). This is happening at Yaktribe. Anyone interested should take a look and visit yaktribe (a friendly welcoming community for various miniature wargames including Necromunda).

Ah awesome, thanks for the heads up. They really did a good job of refining first edition so will be interesting to see what comes of this attempt.

No to dampen people’s enthusiasm, but the current version of Necromunda is still evolving, with new releases planned and on the way.

I think it’s safe to say that the current rules could do with clarifying and tidying up. Is now too soon though?

That was one thing I thought too, but those guys live and breathe Necromunda so would have thought they would have examined what's likely to be coming down the road.

Is it now going to be incremental/smaller releases rather than anything fundamental I wonder?

I can't remember when the original NCE came out - wasn't it after the rules were removed and the Specialist Games section o the GW site disappeared?

We’ve had “House of” books come out for Escher and Goliath, with the Orlock book coming out by the end of this year. That leaves books for Delaque, Van Saar and Cawdor to come out next year. What is released after this is anyone’s guess, I don’t believe GW have announced anything.

It wouldn’t surprise me if we get another rule book end of next year, “consolidating” the existing rules which are found in various different places. We’re already on our second or third version of the rule book so another version wouldn’t be a big surprise.

I believe the NCE was released long after the rules were released. It was a different environment back then of course. Back then the initial release and the Outlanders supplement were pretty much it. Now GW is releasing new books like it’s going out of fashion, using rule book releases to keep up interest in the game and give GW a steady revenue stream.

Necromunda is actively being produced right now. Does it really require fanmade?

"'players must agree how they are going to select their armies, and if any restrictions apply to the number and type of models they can use."

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

When people ask, "What's the point in understanding everything?" they've just disqualified themselves from using questions and should disappear in a puff of paradox. But they don't understand and just continue existing, which are also their only two strategies for life.

Necromunda is actively being produced with garbage quality error ridden books with bits of rules scattered about between half a dozen books and 500 plus cards tied to the game that are mostly out of print you mean.

Do you use Battlescribe? If so, that is "fanmade" as you call it. I expect you to only use GW produced methods of army list construction. Do you house rule anything in games you play? Also "fanmade" since that isn't official.

Necromunda enthusiasts got sick of abysmal quality of official rules - thats the reason behind the initiative. The main focus is to redesign and tidy up core rules, while keeping it as close to original as possible.

Two "codex" books that came out clearly indicate that GW thinks that core rules are fine (they are not because of ambiguous writing and lack of FAQs) and are not going to improve quality of writing anytime soon. Old necromunda was more or less playable without an arbitrator - modern one requires one to even function. Also a lot of what used to be core mechanics are hidden behind a paywall (underdog tactical cards).

Yeah many players are frustrated with low quality of rules. A lot of problems that's never addressed by FAQs.

There are a lot of content still to be released by GW, but with Goliath and Escher book already out, it is possible to predict the format of most new unreleased content.

It would be best to wait until GW finished releasing rules, but that doesn't seem to happen anytime soon.
So we grew impatient and want to improve the game now. Everybody are already playing with their own house rules anyway. This is an attempt to unite the community under a single rules set.

The working title is YCE (Yaktribe Community Edition). It is still in brainstorming phase so will take some time before we decide on anything. Anyone is welcome to join and share ideas.
