When it says on the data sheets " Any model can be equipped with Weapon instead of Weapon B". Does that mean that even though I have physically Weapon A on the model that I can declare before the game that Weapon B is actually the one we would use?
I am mostly asking due to infantry options where I am not going to take the time to magnetize 100+ units, especially since they are way too small. I have magnetized things as the drop pod but I won't do it for small weapons

It depends on the model & weapon - while people are generally OK with Primaris Intercessors switching between their bolt rifle variants, special & heavy weapons should really be modelled.
As always, check with your gaming group and/or TO.

In 99% of competitive games what you see is what you get. In casual play it doesn't matter

I don’t think WYSWYG has been in the rulebook for a few editions. So it’s not required. However, organized play groups (like tournaments and clubs) might have their own rules.
It’s a fairly simple counts-as with a lot of the options, the issue is if you mix and match. Which squad has the auto bolters? Which are the rapid fire? WYSWYG is there to help keep the game running smoothly and prevent gotcha moments when one player doesn’t realize what it on the table.
At this point in casual play it’s a polite thing to do, but if you keep the counts-as down to a minimum, and make it uniform, most people won’t mind. If I have to spend more time asking you what each unit it then playing the game, it sucks a lot of the fun out of it.

I equiped my intercessors with what syncs with my ultramarines but I was wondering what the rule was due to the 2 rifle options in the necrons army, 14 vs 24 range is quite different with a 20 troop unit Automatically Appended Next Post: U02dah4 wrote:In 99% of competitive games what you see is what you get. Is it explicitly listed in the rules? I looked but I didn't see anything in the bigger tournaments Automatically Appended Next Post: Nevelon wrote:I don’t think WYSWYG has been in the rulebook for a few editions. So it’s not required. yeah I agree. I keep it simple and try to split the weapons evenly. I was just asking due to the 20 necron warriors with the two weapon options. The new weapon looks so much better than the old one.
I also got another indomitus necron half so I was thinking about evenly splitting the rifle choice of the 40 necron warriors, mostly for aesthetic reasons

Most TO's put it in the tourneypacks usually something about no proxies. Those that don't just accept it as a common standard. - nothing in the rules says you cant use weighted dice or 10" objectives but you dont - We have standards that are considered basic and useing the correct model so your opponent knows what it is is important.
I remember a 7th argument when a player walked his meltas up to some vehicles and the opponent objected because those meltas were represented by flamers and had been ignored as flamers cant hurt a tank in that edition so had permitted it.
