Title says it all ... trying to kit up some blood angels intecessor sergeants and on ebay the powermauls have a similar mace look and are dirt cheap in comparison.

Since BA can't take power mauls would this be an issue?

Thanks

I don't know of anyone who'd have an issue with it especially at friendly /FLGS levels.

You may always come across "that" person but in general it should be fine.

I'd be fine with it... but did you specifically want the look of the maul, or is this purely a cost thing?
If it's just cost, I'd suggest looking for an odd Terminator to swipe the hammer from. Bits sellers know that they can sell thunder hammers at higher than usual weapon prices, but someone just getting rid of some Terminators isn't going to think of that.
Case in point, I've just seen a couple of listings for a full squad of 5 Termies that are almost as cheap as the bits hammers alone.

It's both a price and looks thing ... I kind of want to leave special characters with actual thunder hammers and the maces for regular (I can also pick up like 4 of the dw bits for the price of 1 th). It also helps bit box diving that the DW power mauls come with arm bits so I'm not having to cannibalize more parts.

I went ahead and scooped them ... thanks for the quick advice.

I wouldn't disallow it, but I'd question it; especially when you can easily make a hammer head out of literal sprue.

Yeah. Also, I wonder what you're going to do when next upgrade sprue drops with maul and automagically all chapters will have one as an option?

Not a bad thought, I was actually thinking about magnetizing the arm joints ... especially after the powerfist changes in 9th

Honestly, it's not a very good fit. They're pretty clearly maces, not hammers.

Like, I wouldn't be annoyed if I saw it across the table, but I wouldn't say that it's immediately recognizable and might be confusing.

Intercessors don't have the option for Power Mauls in the first place. Whats confusing about it?
