I have a 1" x 3" area I need to sand flat. I can't seem to find a mini metal sanding block I can use for this, any recommendations?

The area needs to be super even and flat so I can't use something like an emery board type file that can bend or a needle file which is too small.

Also, I have to sand the edges to a sharp 90 degrees.

Well I'd suggest some sandpaper/wet and dry paper and then a block of wood. Simply wrap the paper around the wood and then rub, that way you get a block to hold onto and the sanding effect you want.

You'd also likely want several grades of sandpaper/wet and dry if you wanted to get it really smooth. Starting with a smaller grit value and working up to higher values (the higher the value the finer the paper sands).

Throughout my college yrs in ceramics, we use silicon carbide block to sand accidental glaze spills during firing, which after firing turn to glass. Depend on what kind of metal you're sanding, I would suggest that. There are many types, just search for 'silicon carbide'.
