With the new Ork Kill-tank rules i'am going to bring my ork fort conversion back to life. I once had a blog about this project but that was a long time ago. I got 3 big Tank conversions that together form a big fort on wheels. They're just as wide as the forgeworld Kill-tank so i'am going to use them as 3 kill-tanks. I'am going to add the 'ram' bit so the will look the same as the kill-tank at the front.

At the back the fort is open and I got different things going on there:

I got:
- Ork bar,
- Ork kitchen,
- Ork Big mekk work station,
- Ork painboy room,
- Headquarters with driver,
- Ork Toilet,
-Ork deathkopta landing platform

And a whole lot of other stuff....

I removed a lot of stuff and need to put a lot of things back together, so i'am going to reassemble the whole thing and add a bunch of new stuff. It is a little bit rough around the edges but before i glue everything together i'am going to do a lot of highlighting to increase the quality of the paint job.

Ork bar
including a band, a bar with a drunk fight and a few drunk orks (drorks i call them..)

Painboy room

Got the painboy but it needs more pain. Got the operating table ready....

Big Mek Workstation

Not glued in yet and still needs some work..

Ork kitchen

Needs a lot of work...

Painting grots

This side of the fort is renewed and it needs a blue paintjob..

Kannons on top

got two Kannons at both sides...needs more paint and some grots..

Ork toilet

Hard to see but it got a grot with a plunger that fights with a squig (based on an old poster about the inside of a Stompa..)

Orks are all about safety of course:

I made a ork size 40k table with epic models and i got two grots that are playing. It actually got the fort to see how the real battle would play out for strategic purposes. Need to find a place for it....

Also got a real kill-tank because I need it at a tournament to show the real size of the kill-tank model. It is covered in hairspray and salt and ready for painting.

I probably going to use two kill-tanks (at the sides) as giga shoota tanks. Just add a lot of dakka everywhere. I got some great Loota's conversions and if the still suck when the new ork codex comes out, the I simply going to put them on the fort. The middel fort kill-tank gets a bursta cannon. I think i'am going build a very big shokk attack gun ( a little like the old forgeworld lifta droppa battle weagon). I simply put i on top and let it shoot a bunch of squigs at the enemy.

Oh yea, and another thing. I got ledd lights everywhere. Lot of players don't like too see led lights on 40k models but I don't care. It is already ' over the top' so no reason not add lots of lights..

I've heard of hairspray for chipping and I've heard of using salt as well, but I've never heard someone use both. How do use both? Any useful guides for that anywhere?

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

That's a great project, loving the details here (especially the grot painters, mwah).

I used this tutorial (first video out of 3):

I went a little overboard with the salt on the kill-tank but it is great for giving that 'the paint is starting to come off'-look.

Step 0: black undercoat
Step 1: Dark brown
Step 2: Brown mixed with dark red and orange: drybrush with sponge
Step 3: Dark red mixed with orange: drybrush with sponge
Step 4: Orange: drybrush with sponge
Step 5: Spray hairspray and add fine table salt immediately
Step 6: Paint the original colour.Let it dry for about 3 hours before you start step 7.
Step 7: pour hot/warm water over the model and use a toothbrush or a regular brush and start chipping. You can get some white spots if the salt didn't dissolve in the warm water but you can simply paint it over or pour some hot water again.
