Greetings fellow toilers in the Grimdark of the far future.

During covid I decided it was the perfect time to get into WH 40k, far from an excuse as to why I didnt start earlier, however, I did make it here and thats what counts.

I am currently running a battle ready Death Guard army with a few models yet to be added, and an Alpha Legion force that I have the bare beginnings of (I just need a horde of cultists and elite/vehicle units).

HOWEVER, My ambitions do not end there, nor do they pale in comparison to the idea of what could be my favourite army I plan on owning and which is a Vostroyan Firstborn army... FULLY KITBASHED (It will be all plastic and I am super excited if you cant tell).

So my plan is to buy a Militarum Tempestus battle box, an Astra Militarum Battle box, and a set of Les Groganrds from a 3rd party called Wargames Atlantic.

I will use the torso and heads from the Les Grognards as they have the bearskin hats and long coats just like the Vostroyan Firstborn, then I will use the weaponry and add-on pieces from the Tempestus and Astra Militarum battle boxes to give them that familiar Imperial Guard flare.

Additionally, I will use the bodies from both I.G and Tempestus to kitbash the cultists for my Alpha legion which to me sounds like a win-win.

PLEASE feel free to share your thoughts as I am new to this hobby and may have the naivity of a noob playing its hand in my decision making.

Regards!

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka

Hello, sounds like a great plan. Wargames Atlantic have some great kits. Let us know how you get on.

Rather than buy the full kits check ebay for spares auctions it's bound to be cheaper.

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Nice project. You may want to use WA arms, as guardsmen arms are big, esp. the pauldron, may look a bit goofy on more modern torsos. But I guess you'll see for yourself as you experiment.
