I'm thinking about building a "counts as" army for Ogors using different minis, but I can't seem to find anything on how tall the models are? Based on looking at some battle reports compared to other models they look to be about 2" tall, maybe a bit less? If anyone knows I'd love to get an idea as to the size of the models.

Thanks!

Yeah 2" seems about right.

1.75 is more accurate, not counting a base. E

Yep, they're surprisingly small.

I measured a basic ogre to be 47mm tall from sole to top of head, and with a shoulder width of 24mm.

You'll probably find some difference because of pose or headgear throughout the ogre range, but that's about the size you should expect

Got to agree. Coming from early 2000s Chaos Ogres that had poses that gave them some presence, I found the plastic Ogres to be a little unnoteworthy when I converted some for my new Chaos army.

I like them because they don't have human proportions. They aren't just a muscular human scaled up, they are THICC!

Just measured a Glutton, 1.75" is dead on. Characters are a bit taller; the new Tyrant is a hair over 2" to the top of his helmet.

I really hope they get a redesign like Chaos Warriors- keep the same style, but some more dynamic poses, better fitting a skirmish game rather than rank-and-flank where they all had to line up together.

Funnily enough even though I agree on the principle idea the plastic ogres never achieved that for me. I actually considered them fat humans much more than I attributed human proportions to the earlier ogres or 40k 2nd ed Ogryns. I liked those a lot better as "not human humanoids".

That would be good. I love the design of Chaos Warriors but never converted mine to AoS because the poses look so poor outside of tight regimental formation. The start collecting box was a great change in that regard.

In my opinion GW simply didn't do a very good job with some Fantasy models that felt like they looked more cramped than regimental formation demanded. To think that the same company did super bouncy Witch Elves on 20mm (that I'd consider to go too far the other way) but did super static Daemonettes on more roomy 25mm bases still has me scratching my head. And to me Ogres since their plastic kit release had been in the latter category, models that didn't use the 40mm space above their bases particularly well and not looking very good outside their regiment. I considered doing something with Ogres for AoS as well, but that idea failed on the same grounds as Chaos Warriors.

It's high time that they get an AoS overhaul to give them some good poses. Technically, of course, I'd prefer different physiques as well, but not at the expense of an established look that people like.
