Until very recently, I was using an old iron box... it has sentimental value -it's a family heirloom of sorts- and I find it sexy in a retro way, but in practical terms it was terrible: it weighs a ton, opens and closes like Dracula's coffin and only fits old citadel pots and regular citadel pots... citadel wash bottles, or vallejo droppers, had to be stored sideways. It was running out of space fast -even though my paint collection is yet very limited.

So I started looking for stuff...

-Cool wooden organizers, or nail polish displays, wouldn't do, as I needed something portable -I do not have a dedicated painting space, nor a lot of storage space, so those are not really convenient for me.

-I checked IKEA, but I found no boxes that served my needs. There was a nice box but it was too short for dropper bottles. On hindsight, this one may have worked, but it seems a bit unwieldy: https://www.ikea.com/es/es/p/kuggis-caja-con-tapa-blanco-50282304/

-I saw Vallejo had some interesting plastic cases, but apparently they -as well as other paint manufacturers- sell those together with a bottle selection. My FLGS had an apparently empty unit for sale... but priced like it was made of adamantium!

So I took a desperate measure and checked Aliexpress for some Chinese mass produced plastic goodness. After playing with their devilish search function and their crazy translations for a while, I struck gold:
https://es.aliexpress.com/item/32971494882.html?spm=a2g0s.9042311.0.0.6b7463c0dYfizd
It comes in three sizes for 15, 30 and 60 slots, and the foam slots fit Vallejo bottles nicely. Citadel pots won't fit in the slots (so I cut the foam tray in half... this way, the vallejos go in the slots and the citadels go "loose" in the foamless half.

What do you guys use?

I have a 3d printer, so I need lots of outlets for plastic "creativity" and random painting related stuff is easy to find

I have a tiered set of holders with dual.slots for citadel.and vallejo sized bottles. I also have a series of smaller flat interlocking holders that just fit vallejo (the cluster in the middle) These are also much more portable to get down to the airbrush setup I have downstairs.

For more permanent storage I have an acrylic nail varnish rack in the wall. Just about in the position where no pot needs to be hidden in a drawer or strewn randomly over the desk. I also.have a portable painting tray with a laser cut rack for 10 citadel bottles.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

I had a similar problem. I was sick of bottles cascading over my desk, or jammed into card boxes. But I didn't have the space for a rack either. So I went with a hard plastic case by Feldherr. £51 got me the case and 6 foam inserts with space for 15 bottles each (90 total). They also do smaller and larger sized boxes, along with all manner of foam inserts for figures, vehicles and various paint bottle types. You can go wild. I found it to be the best solution for having organised paints that are off my desk, securely held and easily accessed

EDIt: I should say that I was actually looking for one of those cases you linked (usually for nail varnish), but I didn't trust aliexpress and I wanted the rigid box. So this was my best approximation.

Oh Canada!

Essential Oil cases are readily available online, and will fit dropper bottles like Vallejo / Army Painter. Personally I've used a Plano vertical tackle box thing with four removable drawers. Those only fit the shorter Citadel pots but the upper clamshell area is tall enough for any miniature paint. Your local hardware or thrift store can be a gold mine for potential paint storage options.

Currently most of my paint is living in clear stackable drawers since I don't have to travel with it, and I like being able to take just one sub-group to the adjacent table to pick out colours from.
