Hi all,

After a rather long hiatus from the hobby, I'm planning to get into Age of Sigmar. More specifically Cities of Sigmar, with a focus on dwarfs and empire troops...

What would people recommend as a good starter (Student friendly) 1000pt army, taking a look at the book. I like the sound of an army themed around either Tempest's Eye or Greywater Fastness, but wouldn't object to other city lists.

Greywater Fastness will be what you want to do. Pick up some handgunners, rocket batteries, dwarf melee of choice, a cogsmith, a battlemage/runelord, and a steam tank. Build the tank as a commander and use him as the general with Drillmaster and the Magnificent Macroscope.

Road to Renown! It's like classic Path to Glory, but repaired, remastered, expanded! https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/778170.page

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

It is pretty light on line troops but could work. I would drop the battalion in favor of more melee to protect the ranged assets; as it stands those 10 ironbreakers are going to be spread pretty thin. Save the battalion for 2k where you can load it up with four rocket batteries.

Yes, though you may want to split the ironbreakers into 20 and 10 man, or 20 and 10 longbeards.
