Can anyone recommend a good source for GW bit parts? I googled it and found a bunch of sources but dont know what to make of them. Looking for recommendations. I'm located in Canada if that matters.

Thanks.

eBay is typically a decent place for bits. I know there are dedicated places where you can buy individual bits in the UK but not sure about North America.

I get my bits from eBay, but only ever in bulk buys.

ebay used to be a good source of bits, but not anymore.

I'm not sure what the cause was - whether GW had a part in it, or eBay policy or fee structure changes, etc, many sellers stopped stocking kits to sell for bits.

There are still some sellers specializing in bits, but the selection & number of sellers are highly limited these days.

GW decided they didn't like bitz sellers for some reason and stopped selling any trade stock to people who were breaking down kits. As a result bits stores cannot get wholesale products from GW and have to buy retail. This, of course, makes it far less viable as a market option for them and thus they've cut down a lot and often only stock the most popular bits that will sell. It also sent the prices up.

I'm guessing that as GW does a lot of duel and triple kits in one, the issue with a bits seller is that customers will buy 1 box from GW and then buy the few bits they need to complete their set from a bits seller. Though honestly whilst the customer is getting a cheaper set of extra models, GW is still selling the same number of boxes so I'm not sure if that theory holds any water.

Whatever the reason its why bits suddenly went both down in stock plus variety and up in price in general.

PS in the last year the GW shut down and limited shipping and production has also had a hit on the secondhand market as more people bought up secondhand goods when GW and 3rds party stores can't get new stock to them. So this has also impacted Ebay's general stock levels.

There were a lot of factors that have led us to today - GW cracking down on and not giving products at wholesale to bits sellers, pandemic has increased demand while supply is limited, eBay has gotten increasingly hostile and fee unfriendly to smaller sellers, and postal rates continue to soar. I think all of those things have hurt the bits market. And with a lot of kits being '2 in 1' as far as the units built, people now more frequently have bits they can trade themselves amongst their friends, as opposed to when most kits were one build only.
