After playing a game of NetEA a few quesitons about War Engine Flyers came up.
We played orks vs. Space Marine and Imperial Guard. At some point the IG Super Heavy tank Company got broken and moved behind a hill. Now the ork player was wondering if he could take his ork lander, and land within 15cm of the Super Heavy company and auto kill them, as you do with broken formations? We decided that it could not be done, since it would seem too easy to destroy high-cost broken units with flyers, suchs as thunderhawks and orc landers which have delivered their troops.

Second, the rules state that a landed flyer act as a ground unit with 0 movement. Is it correct that the orders it can use are ground force orders now, aka such as Sustain Fire and Marshall? Or does it still use the Air orders (Ground Attack and so on)? And is it true it can only move in End phase, with a disengagement move? Or can it use a move order as an action and move to a new point on the battlefield?

Thanks!

Broken formations are only auto-destroyed when making the fallback move. If later someone comes nearby, that does nothing. They even fight back if engaged, though are killed off if they lose that assault.

Aircraft that land and do not immediately take off act as immobile ground troops in later turns until they take off at the End Phase. Unless you need it for objective grabbing, that's usually suicidal.

Wow... That makes a lot of sense. Seems like we have misssed a bit in the rules. We are still new to it, so still learning
Thanks a lot!

No sweat. The airspace rules are a bit clunky to grok at first glance. Also worth mentioning is that landed flyers are automatically destroyed should they ever lose an assault.
