I recently got some Ashen Circle for my Word Bearers, and I want to have a chaplain hang out with them. So I got the 40K chaplain with jump pack model. Now I’ve been told that in 30k chaplains don’t look like that, but after seeing the picture of a Word Bearers Diabolist, I came to the conclusion that in matters concerning faith, the Word Bearers were ahead of their time.

However, his jump pack bothers me, and I’d like something more period appropriate. So my question is should it be mark 3 or mark 4, and do you know of a place to get one?

Here’s the model in question: https://www.games-workshop.com/en-US/Space-Marine-Chaplain-with-Jump-Pack
And here’s who he’ll be hanging out with: https://www.forgeworld.co.uk/en-US/Word-Bearers-Legion-Ashen-Circle

If you can find a MK IV jump pack somewhere (I think the Sanguinary Guard ones are MK IV if you remove the wings), that could work. And you could excuse the modern armor as "modified MK IV"

The Mk.IV single thruster is something of an outlier in the history of jump packs. Depending on how Chaos-y you're aiming a Mk.V jump pack (plastic Raptors) might fit better.

Balanced Game: Noun. A game in which all options and choices are worth using.

There are probably more Mk IV jump packs in Heresy releases than 40k ones. The Mk IV Assault, Dark Fury (LOL RIP), Angel's Tears, and the Moritats all have them and I feel like I am forgetting a couple.

Finding one for cheap might be a neat trick. For the price you might almost be best off getting a box of Sanguinary Guard, flipping the leftovers or converting them into a Legion Command Squad with power axes and jump packs and hunt Terminators.
