I'm currently working on a board game for a friend and it uses D&D size minis, which always seem to be a pain for me. I'm trying to get the skin tones right but the more I look at it, the more it doesn't look right. I wanted a more pale skin tone so I started with a base coat of Rakarth Flesh, washed with Reikland Fleshshade, then relayered with Rakarth Flesh. Picking out things like her kneecap with a lighter tone would be the only thing I can think of. The picture isn't properly focused but the face also bothers me too, up close it almost looks like her face is bandaged in addition to the eye patch. Any thoughts on how to improve this?

Skin tones need lots of layers to look nice and smooth. So once you've done your wash, you'll need a few thin layers of your base tone to smooth it out again, then start adding in highlight tones and glazes if you want some tonal variation.
