Reposting this here after being corrected on the general discussion.

I've designed a basic troop model for an Adeptus Mechanicus Subfaction and would like an opinion on the possible point value it would have as well as other criticisms.

WS.......5+
BS........4+

T...........4
W..........1
A...........1
Ld.........7
Sv.........4+/6++

Phosphor Blaster

Units attacked by this weapon do not gain any bonus to their saving throws for being in cover

Lore Based Context:
Spoiler:
If you've clicked the spoiler Icon, be aware this is heretical, but not chaos. Also I will be spoiling book related content from By Your Command by Gav Thrope
"By Your Command" by Gav Thrope is a book that explores the life and function of a Kastelan Robot and his datasmith. By the end of it, the Kastelan Robot, while not a full functioning AI, is something closer to that with the support of said datasmith's matrix living inside it at the same time. Now imagine that but somewhere else in the deep unknown of the 40k galaxy where a Kastelan Robot is abandoned on the battlefield. Instead of falling to pieces, it starts to repair and produce more machines in its own image. Through trial and error, it learns and expands with the intent to find and support his former human masters. As such, Thrall III is a limited machine and can currently only produce what it knows, where it came from.
As he if his abandonment wasn't enough. The enemy who occupies this planet still persists, a young splinter swarm of Tyrranids. It's a foothold, not strong enough to threaten humanity, but more than enough if left unnoticed. Thrall III and its basic machines have two options. Stay and break the wave, or run and warn its masters. Due to the last wound its masters left the hive, only the sturdiest of the young swarm persist on the planet. Tyrranid Warriors are the common troop now and their larger kin persist still near the center of their hive.

You should list Canticles if you mean for them to have that ability.

Why give them WS 5+, BS 4+ and a 6+ FNP?

6+ FNP increases durability for 1W models by 20% ((6/5-1)*100%) against D1, 3% ((36/35-1)*100%) against D2, less than 1% against D3+.

Compared to the BS3+ S4 AP- (-1 on 6s) Ranger:
*BS 4+ multiplies damage by 3/4.
*S5 increases damage by 4/3 against T4, 3/2 against T5 and 2/1 against T8, 0% against the remaining T values.
*AP-1 vs AP-1 on 6s increases damage by 70% against Terminators, 33% against Intercessors, 0% against ward saves.
*6" less range is also a thing.

Being about 15% more durable, 15% more damaging on average maybe, 2 pts (22% of 9) more than Rangers is really the highest you would want to pay for these and they would be a niche pick, only good against D1-heavy Marine/Necron lists.

They don't have access to the canticles as they're technically heretical, but also not chaos.

As to WS 5+, I gave them that because they visually have no melee weapons, much less limbs that use even makeshift weapons.
BS 4+ is because they're similar to Kastelans in that they're basic war machines.
FNP 6+ is to signify it's only ever so slightly more durable than their skitarii counter parts.

I should mention that I've designed and printed their appearance first before actually putting thought into their stats. All the same I really appreciate how you broke down your assessment on the point value. The context to their lore would probably lead off topic, though I am down to discuss this else where.

Exactly the same method GW uses AFAIK. I think you should edit your OP to add any lore you have, if it's a lot put it in a spoiler, it's relevant to judging how well your rules reflect your lore. As I mentioned in the other thread without Canticles I'd say 10 pts, do they get access to a Forge World Dogma and Stratagems? I'll note that FNPs are bad game design for the most part because they take time to resolve, just give them T4 instead.

Still getting used to the whole idea of posting in general on here and I'm figuring it out as I go along.

As for your questions, no for the former and yes to the latter. The former because it doesn't make sense in the context of the lore which I will update after this reply. The latter is mostly yes as much of their functions operate similarly to Admechs save for key word stratgems such as those that work around skitarii.

First off, formatting could definitely improve. I'd check out this thread just to see how to better format the statlines.

Now, on to the actual mechanics!

They seem... A bit min-maxed. Nothing strikes me as broken, assuming proper points costs, though. I'll echo the call to just make them T4 and not have the 6+ FNP-it's a lot of dice rolling for little effect.

Clocks for the clockmaker! Cogs for the cog throne!

Thanks, I will adjust the formatting soon and I'll follow with toughness adjustment.
