So I recently broke down and finally bought two new fliers for my GK army I already have a Stormraven Gunship but wanted a better air power for larger games. I have been reading over the two varients the interceptor and the storm talon and can’t decide which I should go with besides 1 being better VS air targets and 1 Vs ground is there any other factors that could decide which variations to build? I have other projects to keep me busy so thankfully it’s not a huge rush I just wanted to see what the general views were from other players. I also have a huge DA collection but I have multiple flyers from them so I didn’t see any reason to add the non ravenwing varients to that army.

That is basically the only real difference, one is good vs flyers, one is good vs ground targets.

I think the interceptor looks better personally but the storm talon if you leave the little wings off the engines reminds me of a command and conquer orca, so there is that.

I guess it depends on what you think you'll need to be worried of or make one anti air and one anti ground ? But be sure to make jet sounds when you move them, that is key, or they will crash and burn.

The air/ground split is a little fuzzier these days. They no longer have the strafing run/interceptor rules (which in the past gave +1 to hit ground/air targets) Now the Hawk can take more guns with a bonus vs. flyers, but they are not required.

The Hawk is faster and tougher, but cannot hover. Less of an issue now that guns don’t have firing arcs. Hawk also costs more, and comes with more guns.

I’ve not fielded either in 9th, but looking at them on paper, it’s probably worth it to spend the extra points for the Hawk.

From a looks POV, I like them both. It helps that I don’t think of the Talon as a jetfighter, but more like a Cold-War Soviet helicopter gunship. Once you click over to expecting it to look like an ungainly chunk of armor and guns flitting about the battlefield, it makes a lot more sense.

The Stormraven has wings, but no fuselage.
The Stormtalon has a fuselage, but no wings.
The Stormhawk has both!

GW made one space marine flyer kit, but then wanted to make more money. So they made another one. Then later, they wanted to make more money, so they made another.

That's....what more is there than that?

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"
