Hey guys, what’s the best way to take normal chaos marines and make them word bearers? The word bearer trilogy is what made me love wh so I really want to take my chaos marines there. I saw forgeworld has shoulders but I believe they’re designed for HH units and wasn’t sure if they’d fit.

I mean honestly, word bearers out of most of the legions would look pretty much like your regular CSM. The AOS chaos range might be something to consider for some additional chaos bits, but specifically shoulderpads I'm not sure, there might be some third party/3d printed "flaming skull/book" icons, I'm not entirely sure.

Shoulder pads specifically fit, as well as heads. The new models widened the torso and got longer legs, but the old Shoulder pads still work. I know because I put HH pads and heads on my Plague Marines and it looks fine.

Thank you both, yah I’m. Scavenging bits on eBay for parchment, banners, books, etc but I really wanted a shoulder set too. Appreciate the info. If anyone chimes in with other suggestions that would be appreciated!

The sad thing with the fw shoulders for me at least is that they use the pre heresy burning book instead of the post heresy Latros Sacrum. GW started to use the books in 40k material in recent years (see for example the transfers which come in most CSM boxes), so it doesn't seem to be that anachronistic, but for me the Daemonhead is a central aspect of their whole aesthetic.

Playing mostly Necromunda and Battletech, Malifaux is awesome too!

You could use the Gal Vorbak models from Forgeworld as possessed or greater possessed marines. You could use their daemon if contemptor dreadnought too

AoS is pure garbage
Kill Primaris, Kill the Primarchs. They don't belong in 40K

AoS Flagellants are a goldmine of Word Bearers bits. The 30k kits are amazing too. If they still sell it the 30k transfers sheet is perfection too.

Get Calth transfer sheet, it's kinda rare these days but it can be still be found for cheap and it's filled with WB icons and stuff:
