Ok hear me out, its like a Tyranid spore launcher, but its a gretchen crew launching really angry squiggs into the enemy backfield, possibly in a rapid way, like more than one per shot, say 3

I like it.

Oh that reminds me of the snotling wagon in Fantasy. That thing was fun.

Sounds a lot like the current Squigbuggy.

Or the old catapults that could throw jars of buzzer squigs rather than rocks. (Think giant, angry hornets, but squigs).

Those were fun, simply because they ignored the hit and wound system entirely. They had a (wildly inaccurate) table in place of the scatter dice (which didn't exist yet), and anything hit by it was just killed outright or survived based on a single d6 roll:
Vehicles, robots and dreads survived on a 2+
Power armor, aspect armor and terminator armor saved on a 3+
Anything else only survived on a 5+

If it missed, it wasn't a big deal, as the template would stick around and wander randomly around the table looking for stuff to eat (except orks, gretchin and snotlings, which it ignored)
RT was wacky and unfair.

I have a...god, way more than 2000 point at this point lol, all-gretchin list that I made my very first covid lockdown project in the ye olden days of april thru summer of last year. I've always had a ton of grots, mek gunz which used to be big gunz, killa kanz, grot tanks and a megatank, and basically I couldn't resist the fantastic AOS gobbo range any longer.

I added mangler squigs as a bonebreaka, fanatics and the snotling pump wagons from the blood bowl team as double-choppa nobz, hoppers as stormboyz, and squigs as choppa boyz, plus the gobbopalooza as all different Grot versions of ork characters (broomasta as a painboy, scaremonger as a hound runtherd and spider grot as a whip runtherd, and the two wizardly fellas as weirdboyz). I also converted an AOS megaboss someone had gifted me years ago having not remembered exactly which hobby I was into and made him into a grotzghkull, so I could run my old 2nd edition Makari as Makari.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Squig catapults were a thing in 40k once upon a time. A 40k version of a goblin doom diver would be fun too. Hell, any number of squig units could and should exist in 40k.

There are so many potential ork units. The two simplest would be to just bring back old 40k units like Grot snipers (used to exist) and looted tanks (languishing in "narrative" play land), both would immediately fill a niche that is missing from the ork line. They could also easily make a plastic kit for grot tanks and grot mega tanks that would sell like crazy in my humble opinion.

Active armies, still collecting and painting First and greatest love - Orks, Orks, and more Orks largest pile of shame, so many tanks unassembled most complete and painted beautiful models, couldn't resist the swarm will consume all
Armies in disrepair: nothing new since 5th edition oh how I want to revive, but mostly old fantasy demons and some glorious Soul Grinders in need of love

I sincerely wish Looted Wagons would come back as a codex unit and not just open play. Its hilarious that space marines get extra match play rules from white dwarf but ours are open play only....

On a more constructive note, if they wanted they could drop an upgrade kit and specify the primary kits to convert over into looted wagons. Give them decent shooting rules and use them as fire support units with a plethora of artillery guns to choose from.

I wish Orks had a proper tank. The Gunwagon is ok but I wish we had a genuine tank to slap apart the various space marine blocks that I always see on the other end of the field. Then again, I have serious issues with how tanks are in this game.
