I’m in the research stage of starting Adeptus Titanicus. Having played 40k for a while I’ve been thinking maybe one could run a campaign involving different game systems. Perhaps using a blend of 40k and titanicus; each having consequences for the next game. For example defending the plasma reactor of a reaver titan from the foul hordes of death guard. If you lost you would be short a reaver in the upcoming battle. You could even get kill team involved. I get that titanicus is technically in 30k, but I don’t see how it couldn’t take place in the 41st millennium.

Just an idea, I’m sure someone’s thought of it already. Let me know your thoughts. Is it plausible, or would it be clumsy?

Thanks, fellow plastic addicts.

Sounds fun. Titanicus could definitely work fine set in 40k.

The 4th HH book has a fantastic campaign system you could use as the core of the mechanics adding in those excellent flavour details you referenced (love the idea of defending the reactor having an effect in the next game. Though perhaps just penalizing it's performance unless the game is a complete rout would be wise? *no expert on AT so might be unnecessary)

You’re probably right. Perhaps a reactor penalty then? Maybe you would be more prone to overheating or you’re reactor track was cut short. Another idea could be the assassination of a key techpriest onboard the titan. If killed the machine spirit might have a tighter grasp on the titan or it’s repair rate drops. All kinds of imperial factions could participate in this, mechanicus especially.

We had a game of Kill Team where the objective was to sabotage a titan weapon, which would have a knock on effect in Titanicus. If the weapon was safe then that titan got to keep it without having to pay the points cost, other wise it is considered destroyed for the duration of the titanicus game.

Never had the opportunity, but we've always fancied a Flash Gorden style air battle with Swooping Hawks and Scourges trying to board a Chaos Marine sky ship. I suppose that would be an ideal job for both Aeronautica and 40K, where one must first clear away the Chaos fighter protection.

Years ago( we're talking 3rd edition here! ) there was a huge campaign for Armageddon where you could email GW with your results, and everyone was expected to do their part no matter what game they played. It was a huge mountain of fun, and I wonder if they've done anything like that since?

Casual gaming, mostly solo-coop these days.

There is so much potential in this as you have the same game universe in different scales and settings.

Many years ago we did a multi-system game of BFG, Epic, 40k. The opening games were BFG, of different invading forces against a defender. We then switched to Epic and the winner from the previous BFG games had access to orbital bombardment and teleporting troops to represent that their ships were in orbit and assisting. Finally, we had some small 40k games for key battles: an assassination attempt and trying to destroy a key installation I think it was. 40k was much smaller in scale and less abstract back then so it was probably a bit more like Kill Team by modern standards.

Sadly it's always difficult to keep these kinds of campaigns going but it was fun for a couple of games!

Yes there were a few of those. Eye of Terror was probably the most fun/interesting, but despite GW's promises the victory by the Forces of Disorder did very little to change the game universe!

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

There was fluff in the last book where one legio is storming a barren planet in the findari spoil because another legio built a fortress on it. They drop really close to the fortress, like km away and take it by surprise while another fleet element boards the orbital defenses. There's stuff about a magos and a special team like raiding the fortress to prevent the other legio from waking all the titans in stasis. So could do like AT on the outside of the fortress and kill team inside.

I love all these ideas, including having your titan’s weapon destroyed as a consequence of losing the previous game. That mammoth assault pod is great! Reminds me of a Trojan horse (Trojan Horus if you will). I haven’t actually played Adeptus Titanicus as of this moment (lurking stage) but am doing research to get the flavour of the game. Thinking back to the Trojan Horus. I can picture a mission where you have to defend your titan against a boarding party of traitors. I can imagine the fierce fighting in the catacombs of industrial machinery in the heart of the titan. I could see that being a neat terrain project as well.

Thank you for all the replies!
