Because I Clearly don’t have enough miniature games yet… Battletech! The Puma here, named for the famed mythological creature, is showing off my test scheme. (You get a free imaginary cookie if you recognize the source I’m basing this off of) Thoughts? Critiques?

Well, idk where you want to go with this, but if that had been my mini, i would have drybrushed pure white on the grey section and skyblue on the blue section and gone with a different canopy colour.

Against a pure white, that blue glass would be just fine, but right now it dissapears into the blue half of the model.

For the cockpit you would want a contrasting color. The CamoSpecs team likes to use yellow or red on the Lyran Guards paint scheme.

Looks good but a few issues.

1) Make sure to clean model lines, the white leg has one running down the middle of it.

2) The cockpit window looks nice with the blue, but with more of a contrast color it would really pop.

3) Paint the end of the weapons barrels a dark color aka black to give them depth.

4) I think a nice wash overall would give depth to indented parts and make the armor plates stand out.

But overall a nice start. Keep it up.

Also is this 2nd Lyran Guard.

More DAKKA - the only true answer to any question.

I would only recommend that if they're ballistic weapons (e.g., autocannons or gauss rifles). For the Adder those would be particle projection cannons. For energy weapons you can use the tips found in this CamoSpecs tutorial:

Alternately you can do something similar to the round parts of the Gauss Flayer in this Warhammer TV tutorial (starting at the 3:40 mark):

Jewel the laser barrels, makes sense. Probably red.

Probably try a yellow for the canopy. The blue is my default glass color, but I did think it blended into the blue half more.

Novamarines is my actual inspiration. New enough I didn’t know Lyran Guard was even a thing.

Lyran Guards from Sarna.net

The Lyran Guards were the second Lyran brigade mustered after the formation of the Lyran Commonwealth. Unlike the Arcturan Guards, the Lyran Guards recruited its soldiers from across the Commonwealth, and, second only to the Royal Guards, is the most prestigious commission in the Lyran Commonwealth Armed Forces. At its zenith prior to the Clan Invasion, the Lyran Guards numbered some 60 regiments, 14 of them being 'Mech units.

Yep! I looked them up after you and another elsewhere mentioned them. Good thing I didn’t go with my original Eagle Warriors scheme plan!

Got my Elementals painted up. All set and ready for a 3k BV learning game this weekend.

Painted up the next two mechs for my Battletech Clan forces, ostensibly Clan Ghost Bear. I’ve got two more of the Clan Invasion box left, but they’re a super low priority now because I just prefer the aesthetic of these guys with the aircraft style cockpits vs the more humanoid mechs. Still contemplating basing.

Everyone loves a good madcat, and that is a very pretty kitty. The yellow cockpit works really nicely.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!
