Website updated. Faction list shows that Kommandos and Krieg (Veteran Guardsmen) are separate factions to Orks and AM.

I really like how Deathwatch, THE faction fielding Kill Teams, is just a footnote in SM section. Despite being as different from SM as CSM or GK are. Brilliant!

Also, 10 kommandos vs 10 IG? That might have been fair fight once, but even since idiotic orkstode buff, it's now what, 4x more points on ork side? I wonder if the game will look like trailer, 10 IG vs 2 orks and a squig, with IG having uphill fight

I do prefer the shape of the old gas masks too. They look like hastily sewn together bits of leather, the new plastic ones look like they've been sculpted to look more skull shape.

Actually they're not terribly different in size when you scale them so the bases are the same...

OMG the inferior legs almost doubled... makes the overall look much thicker.

FW Krieg and Elysian were s ale to human proportions, thus skinnier limbs, smaller weapons, and more broken parts. The GW plastic is using the heroic human proportions, which are different.

No. Just no. GW is using human proportions. The Krieger has his pants put into boots, then wrappers on top. I have no idea why people whine GW one is tOo ThIcK, if anything, FW one looks like anorexic 15 year old girl when you imagine his legs under three layers of material. In fact FW barbie look is especially stupid because allied puttee bit it's based on was worn which short boots (so the wrap section is very thin pants tightly wound on thin 1900s civilian leg with cloth strap) while Kriegers wear full length boots and are athletic soldiers much like 2010s US marine is taller and stronger than 1910s one.

But even leaving all of the above aside, defending ankles thinner than wrists is just comical. FW ankles are too thin even for naked ones!

I really like how people overreact to commissar model blind to the fact A ) primaris is heavily leaning forward making him look shorter B ) Gaunt is not held at the same height but a bit higher, and most importantly C ) Gaunt is made full head taller by his dumb hat, without which he would be no taller than any other Tanith dude. He is nowhere near close to a vampire in height. Headless chicken panic much?

There's a picture of Gaunt next to a FW Krieg too, lol.

Spoiler:

Thanks for this pic, BTW. If you draw a line from where top of Gaunt head would be to Krieger helmet, they are exactly the same height given Krieg model is leaning forward a bit. Yup, ""primaris"" Gaunt is the exact same size as "tiny" Krieg

The only difference is, Gaunt looks like adult fit soldier, unlike anorexic 15 year old Barbie look Kieger has. Look at his ankles, paint job on this model masks it but Krieg uniform is long pants put into long, leather boots, plus reinforced wraps on top of it. 3 thick layers of material, making his ankles about as thick as his fingers. These are not ""human"" proportions, even necrons have thicker legs than that.

From the trivia section of this Death Korps of Krieg entry.
"As with many Imperial Guard regiments, the Death Korps is based in part upon real-world militaries from Human history, similar in uniform, appearance and style to the Imperial German Army of World War I and the Wehrmacht of World War II."

From the regiment appearance.
"Spiked helmets are famously worn by the troops of the Death Korps of Krieg; however this is in truth rarely the case in the field, but many Krieg troops maintain the tradition either with improvised spikes or, less commonly, older patterns of the spiked helmet that have survived and been passed down through families."

You're quoting 40k fandom wiki, trash site that mixes fanon with badly remembered fluff because they don't require sources. You can add sentence stating Kriegers wear pink uniforms with My Little Pony butt symbols and it will stay there for months

Lexicanum, as bad as it is, at least requires actually quoting sources to edit stuff most of the time. Use it instead.

Also, please show ONE non-fan Krieg model (or even art) with pickelhaube. I am strangely sure you won't find any.

Well, there's no 1- or 2-sided shapes that they could use. As to why they decided to use it

Yup, because - = don't exist. Or say o 8. Or 1 2. Or A B. Or I II. Or...

Kanluwen wrote:Bluntly, if they hadn't posted the stupid "conversion" image? I don't think it would have been as big of a deal.

Yeah, no one would look at the symbols and asked 'why the stupid, making no sense, illogical progression when you could have sorted it by number of sides and make it maybe not elegant, but usable'. Or look at the gauge and went 'hey, wait a minute, these are just inches, why you can't use numbers or symbols that actually make sense'.

Maybe you are incapable of seeing things without a picture from GW, but please don't assume others can't add 2 to 2

Kanluwen wrote:Yeah, really wish they would have just left the "mystery" in and just shown off the gauge and shown how modifiers work. I was worried about them waffling very quickly on this.

You mean 'notice how stupid the mechanics are once people pointed it out then went full damage control mode by trying to de-stupid them so people still click buy'? Because yeah, they ""waffled"" on dumb design and are trying to fix it now. But in sane circles, it's called 'customer support' not 'waffling'. Unless you think replacing square wheels on car with round ones is 'waffling' on genius design no one is smart enough to understand too?

Symbols just makes referencing the data cards more important.

Not a big deal if you ask me.

Plus aren't half of the players used to Gamer type controls? Or is Xbox and Playstation doing things wrong too.

Let's see:

You were saying?

Gee, I have no idea which two buttons here are supposed to be 1-2 and which 3-4. Maybe because these symbols actually make sense?

I don't mind symbols instead of numbers. But with symbols being stupid mess and melee combat peeing all over realism/elite units I am starting to doubt anyone not just playtested rules, but even proofread them at all...
