Hey folks,

Decided to throw myself head first into the financial woodchipper and start 'another' army; Tyranids.
I have a rough idea on scheme, and have decided to try and magnetise as many options as I can per model.

I started with a hive tyrant, and ran into a question.
As I read the rules, Wings are an optional extra that does not affect payload, but the physical wings take up the top weapon-arm slots.

Is this an oversight in the model, which can have wings AND 4 arms, or in the rules, where wings REPLACE two arms?

Answers much appreciated!

Thanks,
Possum

The wings take up slots on the model.

The rules allow more options then you can fit. Your can call the “hand” bits on the wings rending claws, or the feet as scything talons. Both could look the part. But wings plus all the gun options is not posable out of the box without some work.

I just glued the wings on, and magnetized the lower arms. I worry that in the next codex, whenever that drops, we might loose out on some options. Some codexes go that way, while others keep things open. Not going to borrow trouble from the future. I’ve got magnets for that. But I didn’t do any custom kitbash work for something that might become obsolete.

It's a design limitation based on how they've done it

That said there are options. Forgeworld sells twin-linked deathspitters and devourers. One gun-arm is a twin link so you could put them on one side and another weapon on the other or both both (one either side) for duel twin linked.

Hydracast also makes their own designs of them which work well too. His also have the option of having either one or two arms holding them depending how you want to build your model

The photos show both formats.
