Greetings folks,
So I thought I would come up with a just-for-fun sort of challenge. Pretend that some various historical units/regiments/people got transported to AoS and suddenly found themselves fighting either alongside other displaced persons or in one of the existing factions/coalitions ect.
How would they be represented in AoS? What would be their stats, special rules, ect? Who would they join?
Feel free to take this as serious or as fun as you want. You can have your group of Roman Centurions kicking butt alongside Stormcast, or maybe you want to have a sorely outclassed unit of medieval peasants being killed by the droves alongside their Cities of Sigmar brethren. Do vikings fight alongside chaos? Are French knights taken in by the promises and illusions of the Flesh Eater Counts? You decide!

Some stats people may find helpful:
Basic stat line on a human is move 5, bravery 5, wounds 1.
Light padding, cloth/leather, etc is a 6+ save, the kind of dedicated wartime armor we'd usually see on soldiers is a 5+, while full-suited plate armor is a 4+. Shields improve that by 1.
A hand weapon wielded by a soldier is 1" 4+/4+ no rend 1 damage, while a sidearm or improvised weapon is 5+/5+. Two-handed weapons improve the wound and rend characteristic by 1. Spears are 2" range and give +1 to hit against charging enemies (for infantry).
Generally speaking professional, career soldiers and/or veterans improve their hit and bravery characteristic by 1. High-quality weaponry improves rend by 1. Light skirmishers or 'raider' types in light armor go up to move 6.
Ranged weapons are a bit more inconsistent. A generic ranged profile seems to be 18" 4+/4+ no rend 1 damage. Longer ranges go up to 24", black powder weapons gain a point of rend but are 1 worse to hit, bows are less likely to lose effectiveness while moving.
Horses give move 12" and 2 wounds. Gain two attacks at 4+/5+ no rend 1 damage. Barded horses (4+ save) have move 10" and improve the wound on their hooves by 1. Lances are the same as spears (though generally hitting better thanks to elite riders) but instead of a hit bonus against chargers are rend -2, damage 2 when charging.

Enthusiastically exalted!
I would agree with every one of those things, as they would also be what I gathered from the various rulebooks (largely Cities of Sigmar of course).
Now, what say you folks to some special rules/flavor ect?
Also, as a little side note: if you want to disregard those stats in the name of good-fun then feel free to do so. While, again, I totally agree that they are what's represented thus far in AoS, this is NOT a serious thread!
IF you wanted whatever your fave historical military whatzit to have way better stats than that go right ahead, I'm more interested in creativity and flavor than a totally strict adherence to what already exists :-)
(I can already see someone making a "300 the Movie" spartan unit with like 8 wounds a man...)

They gain a 4+ ward as long as there are 299 or less friendly models on the field.

Camouflaged Zero

Had to think on this a bit, a lot of historicals are already loosely approximated by existing AoS units which made it tricky to try find something unique.
Anyway here goes nothing
Warring States Mangonel (Single, Artillery) 80pts
8W / 0" / 3+ / -br
Boulder Biffer 6-42" / 1 / 3+ / 2+ / -3 / 4
Pebble Pitcher 6-30" / 3D6 / 3+ / 4+ / -1 / 1
Crew: A Mangonel may only fire if there is a friendly unit with the crew keyword within 3" and there are no enemy units within 3" of the Mangonel or the crew unit.
Firing Mode: Choose either a boulder or pebble shooting profile when this unit fires. A Mangonel may fire out of line of sight, but with a -1 to Hit modifier.
Peak Capacity: If a friendly unit with the crew keyword is within 3" of this model when it fires exceeds more than 10 models, double the attacks characteristic of its shooting profile
Keywords (Order, Human, Warring States, War Machine, Mangonel)
Great Ox Bow (Single, Artillery) 180pts
8W / 3" / 3+ / -br
Triple Bow 6-60" / * / 3+ / 2+ / -3 / D6
Crew: An Ox Bowl may only fire if there is a friendly unit with the crew keyword within 3" and there are no enemy units within 3" of the Ox Bow or the crew unit.
Firing: When this unit fires, choose a point on the battlefield within range and line of sight and draw a 1mm line between that point and the closest point of this models base. For every unit (friend or enemy) that this line crosses, make a single attack against that unit.
Triple Strung: Subtract 1 from ward rolls made against attacks from this unit.
Torsion Engine: If this unit is destroyed, units within D6" suffer D6 wounds.
Keywords (Order, Human, Warring States, War Machine, Great Ox Bow)
Siege Techs (10) 70pts
1W / 5'" / 5+ / 5br
Shortsword 1" / 1 / 4+ / 4+ / - / 1
Siege Teams: A Siege Techs unit may only fire a single Warring States War Machine each shooting phase.
Engine Techs: In your hero phase, you can pick 1 Warring States War Machine unit within 3" of this unit. You can heal up to D3 wounds allocated to that unit
Keywords (Order, Human, Warring States, Crew, Siege Techs)

Great job! I honestly didn't expect to see a siege engine on here!
Okay, here's mine for a historical unit I always had a thing for:
Dacian Falxmen: Pts (X)
10-man unit
Move: 6'', Wounds: 1, Bravery: 7, Save: 6+
Weapon:
Falx: (Melee) Range: 2'', Hit: 4+, Wound: 3+, Ap: -1, Damage: 2
Special rules:
Suicidal Bravery: During a turn in which this unit made a successful charge or was charged any battleshock tests are automatically passed.
Strike Hard, Strike Fast: This unit gets +2 to charge rolls, and may declare a charge after running.
Fearsome wounds: After this unit kills at least one enemy model that enemy unit suffers -1 LD for any battleshock tests it takes that round.
